The rooms are small. I could not fit my one suitcase Inside ! So I put outside an armchair that was blocking space, to fit my suitcase... I was then told I am not allowed to put the chair outside, and it was forced back in, with my suitcase oddly on top. Very annoying and rude -- in addition to the tiny room size !

The internet was not working. At one point it did, and I was rudely told I could only have one device on it. But it was not working really, so not a big loss...

The sheets and towels were dirty. When I asked for a clean pillow, I got a rude reply asking what was wrong with the current one. I showed the brown stains and they did not seem to understand.

Staff are overall unfriendly and rude.

The food in the restaurant is bad, slow, and over-priced.

Room Tip: Don't go...

For many years I have travelled to Kinshasa a have tried many alternatives to find a decent stay living up to the high costs - so far the search was of very limited succes.
I came across the Sultani by chance since I participated in a meeting held at the hotel.
The staff is very friendly, recognizes guests, is helpful - and competent. It rare in this city that a hotel invoice is ready upon departure and can be split into business and private expenses within minutes.
The rooms are cozy and and well equipped - the first time I really felt like being in a hotel, not in a camp, construction site or an eery place. The hotel restaurant is small but ok - the poulet à la Moambe actually excellent!
Sultani is very conveniently located for all business with Ministries and Embassies.

Sultani Hotel may not be world-class but for its price, it's not a bad deal for Kinshasa. Everything in the room I stayed in (315) was working: A/C, TV, toilet, and stable wifi. There was a tub, a hairdryer, and a small refrigerator.

Upon check-in, the front desk will ask you if you prefer a street view or a river (fleuve) view. Before you make the mistake, please be aware that the river view (at least until the 3rd floor) looks out to the roofline of neighboring structures. The river view is "far" into the distance. I chose the street view, and had no regrets.

The breakfast was adequate: the usual choice of breads or croissants, hot dishes, cereals, fruits, juices, and made-to-order omelette. For lunch or dinner, you may order your food to be delivered to your room with no extra charge. If you decide to eat in the restaurant, there is attentive service all throughout.

The lobby is a great place to hang out in with piano music from around 5:30-7pm. There is also a bar at the ground floor that seems to be popular but did not have first hand experience.

Sultani Hotel is located just off the main boulevard and just about 10 mins away from the UN Base. The location is good because there is no heavy build up of traffic in the area. It's not the cheapest option but for me it balanced my need for value and comfort.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the 3rd floor. The room is high enough so as to be far enough from the street noise...

For Kinshasa safety is important, and embassies recommend this as ok. The hotel provides quite good service, decent food, steady wifi. It is on a small lot and has no gym or pool, but is situated near many government offices. One can (carefully) walk to many of them.

The bathrooms are in poor condition, with faucets loose and uneven floors. The higher floors have little water pressure, so taking a bath may be out of the question. Some safe deposit boxes may not work. The hotel du Fleuve and the Voyagers are better options if available and affordable.

Room Tip: Avoid higher floors, water pressure may be low.

The hotel is ok, and it is relatively good value for money in Kinshasa. The breakfast is fine. The bathrooms have running water with sufficient pressure to take a real shower, and the windows are equipped with Mosquito screens which is a plus. As other reviewers noted they indeed have a problem with service and I had to ask for a towel and soap as none were in the room when I arrived. On the plus side, the staff is very friendly. Overall a decent hotel which can be recommended for business trips, but it is nothing fancy.
