“A real Grand Hotel”

This was our 5th stay in the STRAND since the re-opening in November 2016. We always feel like coming home, when we come back. Mark, the operations manager is a real English gentlemen, and keeps a eye on everything. The new renovated restaurant is managed by Christian and his lovely wife. The food is outstanding! You should taste the champaign sorbet, that is prepared by the table with liquid nitrogen. They are planning a spa area with swimming pool behind the hotel to be opened in 2018. We will sure be back for that event. Ask for a room on the back side . It is quieter, because Strand road is the main road in Yangon and has a lot of traffic until late night.

Room Tip: Room at the back side is very quiet.

If only all hotels were like The Stand!

Leaving the busy streets of Yangon behind as you walk into the colonial tranquility of The Strand, doormen on hand and to be met by the ever efficient Operations Manager, Mark, who immediately makes sure everything runs like clockwork.

You are treated like long lost friends/VIP's, whilst your butler prepares your room and you sip on a refreshing juice to cool down from the heat and dust of the streets. This is not an advertorial, it actually happens everyday at The Strand.

The staff are just fantastic, anything you need will be sorted, allowing for a little misinterpretation! The Cafe prepares the best breakfast and evening meals, which also includes local delicacies - not to be missed and a bar that just has to be experienced.

We stayed twice at The Strand during our stay in Myanmar and when we returned, the staff immediately recognised this and welcomed us like family.

The rooms are exceptionally appointed, with everything you would expect.

We dined in the restaurant, this was a real experience and actually forgot we were sat in a hotel in Myanmar. Service, wine and food were sensational.

Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The front suites will experience some street noise, however its a great reminder where you are!

I was really impressed with the hotel. the room was large (very nicely renovated), the food was delicious, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was easy to get taxis to sites and shopping (very inexpensive).
Overall, a great experience. Also, I had the opportunity to stay at another five star property in Yangoon and I preferred the Strand.

Without doubt the best hotel I have been privileged enough to experience.
Decor, food staff, location all 5 star.
I have and will continue to recommend this hotel to everyone I know headed to Bangkok.
Incredible!

"The suite was marvelous! It has a teak wood flooring, high ceiling with floor to ceiling curtains and windows, something you would expect from a colonial style property. Modern touches are everywhere but did not surpass the glorious and possessed luxurious feel. The bathroom was covered in classic white tiles, spacious and clean with separate tub and showers. Toiletries were placed in ceramics with a small piece of Thanaka branch used traditionally in Myanmar as a cosmetic paste for sun rays protection. The staff are wearing their traditional Longyi uniforms and very accommodating. The warm welcome and intuitive service of the hotel’s team is at the heart of every Strand Hotel experience and is considered its greatest asset.
It was a short but memorable stay. "
