Excellent guide named Myo. He had good English and a great knowledge of the place past and present, buildings, food, culture, he was happy to discuss everything we came across and stop where we liked. Thanks Myo.

We booked this tour through our provider 'bamba experience' and were really glad that we did.
We met our guide Myo at the Asia plaza hotel. He was very friendly, spoke great English and explained what we could expect from our day with him.
He wasn't lying when he said the train was a slow one, it took over an hour to get to the market which was ok because he spent he time giving us more information on Myanmar. We arrived at the market in the pouring down rain - I would recommend taking an umbrella and wearing flip flops during the rainy season otherwise your shoes will get flooded! We were shown some of the local produce, and Myo helped us barter for a good price on some of the fruit. We got the train back and had a ride on one of the three seater bikes - such good fun!!! They drove us to a local restaurant where we ordered a selection of local food... big portions and the food just kept coming!! On the way back we stopped at St Mary's cathedral which was beautiful.

Overall quite a tiring day, and was glad to get in the shower when we got back!! I would perhaps have been a bit unsure about booking but as we had it included in our tour we went for it. Having a good guide such as Myo really helped us, and I came away knowing so much more about not only Yangon but also Myanmar on the whole - cannot thank him enough. The trip was a real eye opener!!

Just back at our hotel after doing the circular train tour with Myat today. Yangon and the tour are hot and smelly and dirty. But it's all worth it! Myat was brilliant. The train culture is like nothing you've ever experienced. Betel venders. All kinds of venders: green mango with chili licorice powder!! . Tangerines. Newspapers. Quail eggs. You get off at the food market, which operates 24/7. The produce is astounding in diversity and quantity. The retailers then board the train with you as you continue along the loop, with massive bags packed full of everything. An excellent lunch after the train ride. Then back to the meeting point. Scott market is a short walk from there, of you're interested.

Recently visited Yangon after the Myanmar tour, I booked the Night Walk by Urban Adventures and our guide Thura met us in the hotel He's very enthusiastic and very proud of his city, he took us to the Indian quarter and Chinese quarter then the food market He explained in details of the ways of life of Yangon people and how they live. I have a better understanding of Yangon geographically and culturally after the walk. And he took us to a beer bar for beer and grilled fish
Awesome experience!!

I booked the tour through Viator. The tour guide met us at the Asia Plaza Hotel and we walked to the train station to begin the tour. The train is so much fun and awesome. We got off to walk around one of the rural food markets and to see how people go about their daily lives out in the countryside.

We continued on and walked and looked at some other places and had a nice lunch. Our tour guide is named Thura. His English is excellent and he is fun and informative. I can highly recommend him as a tour guide and this as a fun day trip.
