We are regular visitors to JV and this was our first visit since the pandemic halted travel from the UK. Sadly, on this occasion we were disappointed and will probably never return unless we are told things have changed. The reason we were going to the JV every year is the peace and tranquillity I expect from a world class hotel on its own large island outside of the main city. This peace and tranquillity have been ruined by changes the hotel management have made over the past year. Screening around the relaxing pool have been removed and the flow of guest traffic from reception leads them directly to the relaxing pool area. The hotel, oddly, simply has nowhere else for guests to sit and relax outside near reception or the restaurant and bar – no setees, comfy chairs or coffee tables – everything on the terrace is set up as dining tables and it is very odd indeed. I have never been to a hotel that lacks outside lounge areas but at JV this time they were non-existent. Nowhere to sit with a drink or a coffee with friends in the evening, nowhere for guests to go after arriving other than straight into the relaxing pool area. This alone was annoying enough, with families and excited new arrivals wandering around the relaxing pool area wondering where they were meant to go, but on top of this the hotel decided to put a very large wedding party in Block A, directly next to the relaxing pool. A whole day was ruined by their music, cheering and singing. Considering the grounds are enormous there was ample opportunity to put these revellers in another block well away from the relaxing pool, or any other pool, so why the chose to put them where they did is beyond comprehension. It got worse, as a visiting group or paragliders was staying at the hotel and spent an entire day buzzing around the island like giant mosquitos, so this was another day ruined by noise the hotel could have easily mitigated if it put some consideration into why guests come back year after year. Peace and quiet! Just tell the paragliders to stay on the other side of the island and not dive bomb guests trying to relax round the pools! To make that week even worse the hotel was hosting a big wedding on the island. We are well used to this, and they usually take place on the football pitch well away from guest bungalows, however this year they put the wedding directly in front of the guest bungalows. Knowing how noisy Egyptian weddings are and their preference for very loud music with heavy bass, we went into town that evening. The wedding was still going on when we returned at 10pm and the noise was intolerable and totally unacceptable. Thankfully it stopped at 10.45pm (after numerous complaints by numerous guests) but why the hotel management thought it was a good idea to put the wedding right next to guest bungalows is a total mystery to me and shows a shocking lack of regard for their guests. Whilst we were there the hotel was having a large gazebo attached to the restaurant terrace, and the noise of this, whilst understandable that the work couldn’t be done in silence, was badly timed. Why not do this work in summer when there are fewer guests? The gazebo does look good, however in line with the hotel setting everything up with dining tables, it is a wasted area in the evening. I did email the hotel and suggest some lounge furniture on the terrace would solve the problem of guests converging on the relaxing pool and giving somewhere for people to lounge in the evening with drinks. They did not respond. I sent them a follow up email once we got back home to the UK, but again, they did not respond. This lack of response, lack of consideration for loyal guests, lack of management planning to ensure guests get a relaxing and pleasant stay has destroyed what this hotel used to be – relaxing, welcoming, in nature and in peace. When a hotel lacks these things there is no reason for anyone to go there. Aside from this, all pools are in a terrible state and need significant renovation. The Horizon and Infinity pools were both filthy with slime on the tiles. The food is good, and the hotel is good, and the grounds are beautiful, and the staff are friendly, but these things only matter when the hotel management aren’t doing things to totally shatter the illusion of peace. Utterly disappointing and heart-breaking. I can usually give 5 stars, sadly this year I struggle to give 2. Simply not worth the money we paid.

After a not so pleasant stay on a cruise this was a great choice for accomodation. We had a huge, clean room with a nice view. I can also recommend the grill restaurant next to the nile. We had great seafood and some specilially arranged vegetarian options with a lovely view. Service and attention of Korashy was outstanding. We will come again.

Our stay at the Jolie Ville was very unpleasant to say the least.

While the hotel is only occupied for 10% they managed to give us a room with adjoining doors and we got a neighbour at 1.20am which woke us up as you can imagine. The next evening we wanted to go to bed early for the balloon flight, we were woken up by a phone call at 11pm to ask for our checkout time the next day (mind you we were not leaving the next day)
Voicing these complaints did not do much at first, when taking to the manager we were promised an upgraded room for our last night.
Coming back from a long day, we were expecting a better room - however in their opinion the same room with a slightly different ‘view’ in the same bungalow was an upgrade. Having to personally go back to the reception to complain, finally made them give us a better room.
Honestly, this hotel has taken more energy to stay in than it has relaxed me.

The only positive was the service from Korashy on queen’s island for our private dinner.

The place is beautiful but not as the picture and rooms are very small. They made me sign an agreement that guest are not allowed to bring food from outside in the hotel which was weird because the food at the hotel was horrible and over priced. They didn't have enough variety of food to have this rule of not ordering food outside of the hotel. The service is also very slow at the reception because they only had one receptionist all the 4 days of my stay. I wouldn't recommend the hotel and I wouldn't be back either, it's not worth the price

Room tip: when you go out eating you can't bring leftout inside the hotel or even eat it at the receptionist

The hotel has good location, service and restaurants but all the pools were very cold and no heated pools as it's mentioned in hotel facilities so you can't swim at all in such cold water. also this hotel has dayuse reservation with low prices so you will see low category of people at the pool beside you and most of them teenagers males swimming with there clothes and annoying every female swiming
