First off I would like to say this was an amazing experience. Our guide Paul was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable about the animals and where they were located. His love for the animals showed during our visit. He showed great hospitality. Very patient and was already ready to go for game reserves. The staff at Masa Explorer was over the top helpful. They waited on us the whole time during our stay. The chef did a fantastic job catering and preparing meals. They were almost too beautiful to eat by looking at plate preparation. Maurice, the manager, did a great job of making sure our stay was like a home away from home. I recommend anyone wanting to do a safari stay here at the Masa explorer and ask for Paul as your guide. We will be returning again.

Room Tip: great views, and comfortable beds.

We loved our safari in Kenya. Waaaay more animals than we saw in Kruger National Park (S.A.). The camp, itself, was very comfortable, and the staff including Noor, Simeon and Simon were very attentive. But, it was our guide Ruben who was a standout. He seemed to have a sixth sense about where to find the animals; consequently, we found the lions, cheetah and leopards before the other Land Rovers piled on.

In addition to the big cats, we saw tons of zebra and hippos, many giraffe, thousands of gazelles, wildebeest, jackals, baboons, cape buffalo and so on. Totally wonderful.

Ruben is a guide at both the Mara Explorer and Intrepid camps. Be sure to ask for him when you book. He is the best.

Room Tip: We were told that Tent #4 is a great location near the hippo pool.

Maasai Mara means spotted land of the maa which is seen from an eagles view while aboard on a plane as the few rough-leaved shepherd's tree(Balanites aegyptica) are spread on the vast land. Whenever you hear of Maasai Mara, people tend to think of the wildbeast migration but that is just a tip of the iceberg. during the normal season, the wildlife of mara comes to life with vast numbers of elephants, topis, buffaloes and antelopes, which in turn give room to experience once in a life-time movie in 3D, when the wild cats: Lions,Leopards and cheetahs taking the center stage and stealing the show with their dexterity as natural killing machines of course. which gives photographers like myself the thrill and the urge to work of my wildlife photography/wildography. a place i would highly reccommend and day any time, any season.

Room Tip: Talek river view says it all

First of all, going on a safari is the best possible thing to do. When Paul is your guide you have hit the jackpot. Paul LOVES the animals, he knows them by name and has lived among them so long he knows their habits and preferences. Having Paul as my guide made my trip, please ask for him when you visit Explorer Camp. My tent was wonderful and with all men as the hosts of three female guests at the Camp, it was a fun dynamic. They treated us like queens and made it their mission to anticipate our wishes. Noor was especially keen on wanting to make this my best trip ever - and arranged two bush breakfasts, a sundowner and a Maasai dancers campfire dinner. The food was superb also...

Absolutely NOTHING was left out and the star far exceeded expectations. Many thanks to Reuben, Maletto, Kevin, Morris, Samuel, Paul and Noor for a trip that I will relive one day soon with my husband.

It is hard to put in to words just how wonderful this place is! We spent 3 days/nights here as part of our Honeymoon and from the second we arrived we were blown away at every aspect!

The camp setting is just as we imagined; unassuming in the middle of the wilderness, with 10 private tents a short walk from the main area which are undeniably luxurious, with everything you need!

The real magic to this place however is the service, the staff are absolutely fantastic! Maurice welcomed us into the camp, and he and his entire team ensured we enjoyed the best experience and felt like part of the family. We were treated to incredible food for every meal, the bush dinner was exceptional and a lovely surprise, as was the Sundowner on our second evening at the end of our afternoon game drive, where we were driven to a location in the middle of the Masai Mara to find a camp fire BBQ and drinks organised by the Camp staff to watch the sunset over the incredibly beautiful and vast landscape. Even small touches like placing hot bottles in your beds at night when the temperatures can drop, or wake up calls with tea and coffee and home made biscuits prepping you for early morning game drives.

The game drives were awesome; Joseph was our guide and boy does he know his stuff! We saw more animals than we could ever have imagined, it was truly out of this world! On our first morning drive he picked us up promptly at sunrise, we drove for a short while into the Mara and then stopped, turned off the engine, listened for lion roars and then set back off out to find them. Our final morning we spent having breakfast (a picnic pack prepared by the camp) in our jeep pulled up next to a Leopard nest Joseph found in a ravine in the roots of an old tree; we sat there having a delicious Kenyan cup of tea whilst 2 small leopard cubs played around, climbing all over their mum, just 3 meters away from us - absolutely magical!

This review most definitely won't do you justice in the amount of wonderful things to be told about this place! We were so sad when it came time to leave and hope that some day soon we will be able to come back!

Thank you to you all for making our Honeymoon the most incredible experience we could ever have wished for and to GG @Africa Wilderness Journeys for introducing us to this magical place!
