The Swissotel is adjacent to the second ring road. It is about 10 steps away from the subway. It is a big faceless corporate hotel though still manages to be okay.

The rooms are exactly what you would expect from Swissotel. Comfortable. The heating has to compete with the single glazing which means that the room never gets really warm.

The breakfast selection is good.

It was nice to come back after a cold day and sit in the sauna and steam room for a bit.

Room Tip: get a room relatively high up to allow you to see the traffic jams at anytime of the day on the ring...

This hotel might be a little bit old fashioned, but not out dated at all. The room we had with three people was not too big, but good enough to stay there for four nights. Although the room was booked with additional bed, they forgot to prepare bathrobe and towels for three people. And the additonal bed was not very comfortable.

The room itself was nice, clean and quiet. The window front offers room for improvement: you don't get all the noice from outside, but it's draughty and I wonder why rooms in such appartment offer windows to open. The mechanic behind the window opener seems not very trustworthy.

Regarding the restaurants: the chineses restaurant was good in service and in food. We also tried the japanese restaurant, and here I agree with one of the previous reviewers: it's by far not the standard one would expect in this hotel - from cleanliness and quality of food.

I also would not recommend to book a tour to the Great Wall via the travel agency nearby the reception. This is a very commercial tour. Of course you get your tour, but e.g. they offer lunch in place where you first should go through a Jade exhibition (and buy), they offer a tea ceremony, which is less ceremony, more pure sales event. This leaves an aftertaste, although the tour guide himself was very professional.

These critics get compensated by the breakfast - outstanding in quality and service. And the variety of food is fantastic.

An old hotel in need of re furbishment but room ok and bed very comfy aircon a bit noisy bar area very good but beware the restaurants especially japanese, they are charging central london prices . but very quiet i wonder why !!!!!!! A very strange pricing policy for hotel we asked for late check out and were quoted 600 rmb for half day rate which if full dayrate of 1200 was more than we were charged for 3 nights stay???????? and for that reason we will never use this chain again shop around plenty better hotels And

We stayed in this hotel for two days sightseeing before moving closer to the convention centre where we were working later on.
Certainly not five stars, we had a window handle broken and were very cold before they fixed it, room was small. Aircon was very noisy. We were OK but rooms are not acceptable for five star hotel.
Bathroom was old and tired with a plastic shower curtain.
We didn't try restaurants, breakfast was 200 RMB so walked across the road to Starbucks.
Staff at the bar didn't understand English much and orders were always an adventure.
Hotel is conviniently placed for city sights and there is a good selection of restaurants just crossing the smaller road. We went to Japanese sushi restaurants (with a Chinese twist though) and another Chinese restaurant next to it where you order on ipad online, also tried a wine bar nearby.
On the same street in a corner building is a superb massage parlour, I would go again.

Overall all, overpriced hotel but we enjoyed our stay because of its location.
