We stayed in Building #2 and had a room with a balcony. Very nice and peaceful except we got lost a few times. Area had limited places to eat. We ended up having dinner at 'Fridays' restaurant for 2 nights.

It was not clear to us that we will not be in the Grand building but be located in building number 2. As with all government establishments, #2 is really a step down. The rooms were clean but amenities were minimal. Location is great near subway but breakfast is well terrible and the lack of English speaking people in a hotel that gets so many english speaking visitors is shocking and wastes a lot of time.

Room Tip: book in the Grand building

The place looked pretty good but i felt the rooms needed upgrading as they were a little tatty. The food was average and it was supposed to be 4 star but more like a 2 star overall. Not my favourite hotel.

Stayed: September 2017

We stayed here on a TripaDeal China trip. Our room was large, decor was old and tired, bathroom could have been cleaner. The breakfast was excellent with so many dishes, fresh made to order omlettes, fruits, etc The fruit juice and tea were dissapointing. The staff were very Chinese - rude ( but it is in the culture). All the Chinese guests we sat with at 3 breakfasts were friendly, happy to speak English with us and converse. The gardens of the hotel were lovely.

Room Tip: Ask for one overlooking the health club.

The hotel is a mixture of old and new. We were in Building 4.
We arrived at almost midnight only to be advised the hot water was turned off until the morning. The bed is so hard it’s like sleeping on boards. Be mindful hotels still allow smoking in rooms and dining areas, our room, especially the bedding smell and pillows was awful. The hair dryer - whilst grateful there was one, it’s a style from 30 years ago. No iron or ironing board, the small fridge took at least 24 hours to reach a cool temperature. No face washers, so bring your own, the water is hard so nothing lathers. Breakfast was reasonable, the coffee is not what westerners are used to. No bar facilities, but you can go TGIFs which was only a couple of minutes walk from Bldg 4. There is a small shop in the building next to the gym so you can purchase snacks, beers, etc. prices were reasonable. The surrounding gardens are beautiful and well worth taking some happy snaps.

Room Tip: The hotel is undertaking some renovations - you need to be away from the area.
