Stayed here for 3 nights and were very disappointed....smoke smell right through even in the lifts. This hotel does not cater that well for westerners especially in the food department....not much choice at breakfast and dining in the Level 2 restaurant was something else. Very few staff members could speak English so it was difficult trying to order drinks (managed by pointing at bottles, ice etc) but ordering dinner was not much fun...though it has given us a talking point now we are back home. The lobby itself was quite nice except again for the smoke smell.

Room Tip: If you choose to stay here definitely ask for a room on the non smoking floor.

Stayed there for a conference. The room was small but clean. Free WiFi. The maintenance is ok, some improvement needed. Breakfast is ok as well, especially if you like oriental food. The location is not so good, but there is a subway line (No. 10) nearby. If you travel with a group and picked up for your sightseeing the location won't affect you, but if you are an independent traveler, it would be better to choose accommodation near the Forbidden City / Wanfujing area.

Stayed here before, and I must say that the hotel is doing its best to improve overall service, in which they succeed.
Coming from the airport you can take the airport express train ( 25 RMB ) and change to line 10 at Sanyaunquiao. ( buy a subway ticket at 2 RMB at the counter). Get off at Panjayuan and walk about 3 minutes to the hotel.
The rooms are good quality, not the biggest size, but with good beds, good, firm matresses. The aircon is adequate, the bathroom has all the amenities you wish. Cleaning of the room is good, every day, with new towels in 3 different sizes, shampoo, showergel, toothbrush and toothpaste etc. There are tea facilities, for coffee facilities you have to ask, but they bring it to your room immediately.
There is good working, free Wifi in the room
The breakfast has a good spread, but is mostly oriented to asian taste, allthough the section of western items is growing ( mainly bread, cheese, fresh vegetables etc.) There is an egg station, where they also prepare noodle soup. The breakfast area is not very big, sometimes it can be very full.
The lobby is very impressive, there is a lobby lounge with drinks, cakes etc.
The hotel has a really impressive ndoor pool, the water temperature is pleasant.
There is a gym, with all equipment in good condition and properly working.
The location is convenient if you want to visit the big Panjayuan market. The subway is about 3 minutes walking.

Most important : the overall service is good, with even some very positive remarks : the assistant manager ( nickname Jimmy) speaks very well English and is a patient source of knowledge and helps you where ever you may need it. Highly recommended.
Also one of the porters ( nickname Tom ) speaks English and is very helpfull. The rest of the staff at reception does its best to understand and speak some English, but some improvement here would be recommendable.
The hotel has an evening dinner buffet, not much attended, but good quality for the price ( about 110 RMB), with free drinks ( water, tea, beer), mainly Chinese food. Good if you are too tired to go out, just don't want to leave the hotel or want to see what you eat, without any surprises. Outside there is a good, clean local restaurant, about 150 meters away, next to the supermarket. This restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes at cheap prices. They don't have an English menu but all the dishes are on pictures. A few minutes further away there are more restaurants, all in the same category.
The already mentioned supermarket is open until 10 PM and has everything you might need ( from food to kitchenware to every imaginable item), just visiting it is already an experience ! Prices are unbeatable.
All in all, for me this is a place to come back, whenever I am in Beijing. Higly recommendable.
Note that during the annual congress of the Chinese government in February, the hotel is full with official government people and cannot be booked.

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights, lovely room, beds good size but hard. Tea facilities in room but no milk. Free wifi, good selection of breakfast. Went to the bar on a couple of occasions which was good as there were no other bars in the area. We were on floor nine which gave us a great view over the city, and also an eye opener watching the traffic chaos.

Room Tip: The higher the better for a view

Stayed for 3 nights in May, 2014. Rooms reasonable size, beds firm but OK. Tea only in the room and no milk - the norm in China we found out. Bring some sachets of your own if you don't want to drink green tea or black tea with no milk. Good selection at breakfast. Free Wi-Fi only in the lobby which has only a few chairs but wasn't a major problem. Never got time to to use the swimming pool although it looked good - long. Extra charge for using it. Great supermarket just across the road.
