As a westerner who has dabbled in reading English translations of Chinese classics, Dream of the Red Chamber is one of my favorite books of all time. I have never seen the TV show but I was intrigued to check out the garden created for it upon hearing it existed. As a park it was beautiful, the entrance fee isnt too steep (make sure to bring your student ID if you have one) and the park was not too busy probably because of the fee. As a representation of the book, I felt like it did fairly well. I felt like I was in a maze of pavilions and was often times transported back to the book. My only wish is that some of the plaques were updated, and a proper map was given out for some guidance, but besides that if you are a fan of the TV Show, the book, or are just looking for a beautiful garden in Beijing, I highly recommend this spot.
