We atsyed three days and saw the major sights. Room was as expected, service was above expectation. Staff actually managed to recognize that we ere guests and our room numbers (!). We contracted for a guide and driver through the concierge. The guide (Lucy) was fabulous and getting a driver probably saved us 2 hours in taxi time. You'll be takedn to some of the customary tourist sales traps, but they aren't all that pushy.

We had a wonderful stay at the Ritz Carlton in Beijing on our group tour. The lobby atmosphere is inviting and comfortable with a large seating area where afternoon tea is served. Also, free wi-fi in the lobby. The rooms and bathroom was spacious with windows spanning half circle (corner room). We had a separate footed bathtub & separate shower. We also had a small entryway with a table that was separated from the bedroom. Luxiourious soap & shampoo amenities. Beds had nice white crisp linens & was comfortable. Service was first rate. Bottled water was plentiful. Everyone was very cheerful and guest- friendly. The pool/spa area was gorgeous & very "zen-like". However, the pool was closed on a couple of days for maintenance. The Ritz personnel, however, walked us a short way into the connecting mall to another spa facility. The hotel connects to a shopping mall with upscale stores. Located in the Financial District so on the weekends it is very quiet of traffic & people. Across the street are some restaurants & surprisingly, Pizza Hut is a nice sit down restaurant (much nicer there than in the States) & the pizza was delicious. The Ritz is a few blocks from the subway, which we took to the Pearl Market. This was our first stop in China so it set the bar quite high!

We stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed our stay though we were not in the hotel much as it was our first time in Beijing. Hotel is a little far from the touristy places but there are some nice malls and eateries close to the hotel. We paid extra and took the lounge level access where we had breakfast and on one night dinner as well. They also have wine and beer here so nice place to relax and sip a glass of wine. As we are vegetarians the food was not great for us but would recommend it for all the non vegetarians. Overall the hotel staff were attentive but the best part was that everything was as it should be (seamless operation) and we did not need much assistance for the staff. Only con was the jacuzzi where the water was cool!

The Ritz is certainly deserving of its 5 star rating. Spent three night here as part of a Pacific Delight 12 day tour of China. The staff, food, room, cleanliness all TOPs. We are world travelers and this hotel is the best.. it even rivals its sister hotel in Shanghai.
