As I entered this area my first impression was a big beautiful Javanese traditional house.
The ticket was cheap, only IDR 15,000 for tour and kite drawing. The first thing we did was entering a room and watch video of kite history for 10-15 minutes. They always provide that even for a small group like family which are most visitors came at the same time with me.
After that we will have a tour around kite museum. There were like 200 kites or maybe more, small and big. The smallest was 2 cm² and the bigest was like small car size. After that we were directed to the hall and drew on kites or play with kites.
Such an entertaining cheap tour. It is good for kids to get entertainment and show at the same time.

I had difficulty finding the museum even with Google GPS it was hard to find. You have to tell your taxi driver THIS ADDRESS Museum Layang Layang Indonesia JI. H. Kamang No. 38 Pondok Labu, Jakarta 12450. I loved the private guided tour and kite making this is included with the entrance fee of 15.000 IDR. There is a film presentation describing the kite history and festival activities. All of the kites were mesmerizing and I learned a lot about the culture. I would recommend this museum to families and tourist. I definitely never experienced this in the United States.

We had our team day in this amazing place. The place was magically turned us out to have fun without noticing that we are in the middle of J town. The activity they offered were all exciting! We watched Indonesia kite history, painted puppet and kite, then played childhood games such as domikado, etc. FUN!

To find this museum you will have to either give good instructions to the taxi driver (Layang Layang Museum), or let a taxi drop you off at the Lifestyle & Exhibithion Mall and walk from there (about 15 minutes). You can choose a few types of tickets, we had the ones where you can also make a kite yourself after the visit. First we saw a video about the kite culture in Indonesia, the Museum is very small but has lots of kites (from 1 cm!), we made our own kite and practiced a bit. We stayed about 1,5 hour.

Lovely little museum with a small garden, an enthusiastic private guide (included in the entrance fee) and you could build your own little kite (kids must love it), all included in the 15.000 IDR entrance fee.
The museum was however a bit difficult to find for our taxi driver.
A so strange that they didn't sell any kites in the souvenir shop on a kite museum? That would be a great possibility for them to make some money.
