Expectations for this hotel were a bit high, since it was one of the hotels in Yogya that had good reviews and priced much more than the average nightly rates for the city. We stayed a total of 3 nights in this hotel. With regards to the breakfasts, given that in all 3 days we had to start our day really early, two slices of bread with jam and a bottle of water were given to us. When we asked if they could give us at least some fruit, they always came up with the excuse that they bring fresh fruit early in the morning (even though banana and the sort were originally offered, which can be bought from the previous day). The room for three people wasn't big and was really dirty. We never complained, since we didn't want to cause any issues and for the duration of the 3 nights they never cleaned the room, where we had to ask the reception in order to change the dirty towels every day.

Upon entry in the hotel, Tom the hotel owner came to greet us and was very friendly. We asked him about the daily tours offered by his hotel for Borborodur, Prambanan and Dieng Plateau and he was supposedly offering us a good price to go with them for these attractions. After going around Yogya to check the prices of other vendors, even though we found some tour operators who offered the same tours for a bit less money, we decided to go with Tom's private driver given that the tours starts early in the morning and we managed to negotiate a good enough rate. The first tour to Borborodur, Mt. Merapi and Prambanan was very well organised and we had no complaints about it. The second tour to Dieng Plateau is the one were it was apparent that Tom took advantage of us. He informed us that we need to pay 150,000 IDR per person to enter the Dieng national park which includes a tour leader (besides the 700,000 IDR that we paid for the car). This was actually a scam, since the tour leader tried to justify his price tag by telling us that a tour leader is required to go inside the Wana Wisata Petak 9 Dieng, which is not true. There were several solo travellers inside this park, and when attention was brought to him about this he tried to make up several excuses and was also reluctant to take us around the multi-coloured lake. When we told Tom about this (and the fact that we paid 150,000 IDR each for just 2 hours), he said that he was very sorry but never offered any compensation for it. To try and compensate for what happened in the Dieng Plateau tour, on the morning of our departure from the hotel, Tom gave us fruit (a banana each) with our packed breakfast. This also shows that they had fruit, even though they never gave us in the previous two days.

For a lower price, you can find a better hotel in central Yogya. The only positive thing about this hotel was the location which was very close to the train station (5 minute walk) and to the main streets of central Yogya (street markets, cafes, supermarkets, ATMs, etc.). However, there are a lot of other options.

It was really a pleasure to stay in 1001 hotel , centrally located just one minute walk to reach the best local street market , night club , and local bars and cafes with some reggae music and other bands perform every night .

This hotel has the best traditional javanese look with modern facilities and very friendly staff .

If u are solo traveller or couple or family i would really recommend you to stay in this hotel which is not really expensive compare to facilities and ambiance you live in its real experience of being in java .
