The rooms are like suites with a small kitchenette. Decent A/C. The hotel is right on the beach 15 minute walk from Sabang center. Smoking is allowed. wi-fi is very bad. Then, they charge 4% on credit cards.

3 1/2 star place at a 5 star location. I think the staff are quite fantastic. Food is good as far as breakfast. We ate out for dinner at other places every night. In general I would rate Puerto Galera as a great "Guy Trip" as it is what it is.

Be aware that there is no beach l It is not a place for swimming unkess you want to swim in gasoline left by the numerous boat making a ballet dance from very early to very late ! Plastic rubbish on the beach. Also, the only way to arrive to the hotel is to walk 10 to 15 minutes carrying your luggage. Not recommended with kids ! Otherwise nice staff, breakfast is good, room is ok, but not 3 stars sorry.

From experience I know that there are much cheaper and much better accommodations around this area. Portofino has old rooms with ugly and uncomfortable linens, the bathrooms are on a very low standard or even under usual standards. The music was far too loud in the evening and when you sit outside, flies will attack you. The front view of the hotel looks much nicer than its rooms. Breakfast was included but they have a terrible offer and if you want an orange juice or pineapple juice instead of your hot tea or coffee, they will charge you extra. There is not much choice for vegetarians on the breakfast entree menue and if you would like to have an oatmeal, you have to pay extra. Service is not good enough. You might be very disappointed (that is a general issue in the Philippines), if you have been to other countries around and expect the same. They just don't know enough about satisfying a client yet.

I made our booking through Action Divers as I was also taking my Advanced course with them. They recommended this place as it was beside them and hence convenient. Upon check in, the staff were very friendly and greeted us with a smile. We reserved the Premium Beachfront view apartment and the view and location did not disappoint. The view was spectacular especially early morning at sunrise. The wind provided ample ventilation for the living room with the two ceiling fans. The room had strong air-conditioning and the bed and pillows were ok for this class of hotel. Remember, it is not a 5 star hotel or luxury hotel so you have to manage expectations especially if you are used to a luxury hotel. This is more of a hotel that gives you a local Philippine home experience. Because the apartment was not used for sometime, the windows should have been left open a day prior to someone using it to avoid the clogged smell. After a day that was gone anyway. I think the shower heads needs replacing as it was not spraying well. The included daily breakfast were great as you chose what you want from the menu. We went with the Filipino breakfast which were very good. The food taste and quality were actually very good, better than most places. (I suggest also the Tamarind restaurant down the beach strip as you walk towards Sabang port - they have the best pork ribs bbq that I have had in a long time and very filling too). The room was also very near the shore so it is not a long travel of stairs. You can hear the waves smashing to the shore at night and has a very calming effect. The staff were very helpful and addressed everything we needed. Truly one of the best views and relaxing place to stay at in Sabang, Puerto Galera.
