The hotel is quite hard to find, as there's another place called Jay Jay's near the D'mall.
When we finally got to the hotel, we still had a long climb up some stairs.
We were welcomed by the Swiss proprietor with a bottle of San Miguel and were shown our room - which was basic, although had a great view out to the sea. The room itself was spartan, with a bed, TV, three coathangers, an ACU, and a bathroom with no hot water.
For £40 a night, we were expecting much more, especially from one of their "Superior" rooms.

There is a plethora of nicer accomodation on Boracay, at a quarter of the price, so my best advice would be to book somewhere central near D'Mall for one night, and spend an hour looking for somewhere you like the next day.

How this hotel stays in business is a mystery to me. The Swiss owner treats the place as a drinking club for his friends, and has a squadron of Filipinos to do all the hard work and heavy lifting. Nothing gets done. Requests for basics like a table and chair are not carried out. In short, the guest is made to feel like they're imposing in a private house as opposed to paying a lot of money to stay in a hotel, which is completely unacceptable.

The final straw was when on check out, we were presented for a bill of around £100 for a toilet seat which broke during a power-cut. The owner refused to meet us to discuss this, his Filipina housekeeper told me that he was still in bed and would not get out (10.30am) - a very unpleasant situation which was only diffused by offering to pay half, so we could leave and catch our flight.

Being stung for a suprious charge at the end of the stay soured the trip for us. We loved Boracay, but we were ripped off by Jay Jay's club. A white plastic toilet seat doesn't cost anywhere near £100, even in Harrods.

Such a shame, as this place offers great views, and is in a nice location off the beaten track, and in the right hands with some work could be amazing, however, the lack of hospitality, poor management, and ethos of ripping off customers make this somewhere I could never recommend to even my worst enemy.

Room Tip: Do not stay here

Me and my husband stayed for 3 nights here last May 2010. We love the privacy of the place and the view is lovely. We got a really spacious room. The air conditioning is not cold enough for us but the owners are helpful by providing us an electric fan which helps cool the room up.

Unfortunately, we weren't able to use their jacuzzi and pool because we don't have enough time. We had breakfast by the beach which is only a walking distance from the hotel. Overall, we enjoyed our whole stay in Boracay.

Two of my girl friends booked at JayJays through Agoda. They said that they were disappointed because they expected so much with the place. JayJays is located in Station 1, few minutes walk from the beach, a family owned clubhouse, few rooms so its a quiet place situated on the top of the hill. We went there on our first night to go swimming on their pool.. and its freakin scary because of the sooo quiet surroundings. And its very cold! In my own opinion, i find JayJays a nice place to stay, relax, have fun with friends while swimming and chatting on the pool. I saw the room that they have occupied, and for me its okay.. king size bed, with tv, ac, cr.. i mean, big cr.. clean linens, though the room is not that big.. Anyway, it doesn't matter because when you go to Boracay, you'll spend most of your time at the beach. So why settle for an expensive accommodation. Just a thought. =)

Room Tip: Find a place near the beach so you don't have to take a trike whenever you go back to your hotel.

Our family stayed in one of the rooms in their clubhouse, it has a kitchen where you can cook, the place is clean and well maintained, quiet and very safe to stay, right price for those on a budget, so look no further, it's got to be Jay Jay's Club! :)

Room Tip: Familiar ya que los bungalows son con techo de paja y pequeños y vale la pena pagar el plus.
