Loving the food there and the service crew are all very friendly. Im a huge fan of Peranakan food and this definitely did not disappoint me. The ambiance is very cosy ,especially at night, there is outdoor seating. All in all, worth visiting and definitely a very pleasant experience. Price wise, super affordable for Authentic peranakan food!!

The decor was modern chic, and the bar has some great drinks that could potentially be the next "Singapore Sling" - aptly named Peranakan Blue.

Spot-on food, great company and sedap-licious desserts...

We came for dinner and started off with Ngoh Hiang, Emping Melinjau (had a special sambal mayo that we loved) and the signature Egg Skin Popiah.

Mains were Babi Assam, Sotong Masak Hitam, Ayam Buah Keluak, Sambal Bendi and Beef Rendang.

Nasik Ulam and Bunga Telang Nasi to accompany the dishes.

To end the meal we had all 3 desserts.

Our recommendation for the order of eating the desserts:
1) ginger flower sorbet to cleanse your palette after the meal
2) sticky date longan pudding to get your tastebuds flowing for dessert
3) cumulating with panna cotta pulot Hitam for the finale!

We also noted that the restaurant had an interesting modern brunch menu that was available during the weekends - another reason to return to try...

As with all cuisines, recipes differ from family to family, so my friends and I came with the expectation that we are in someone's home, and that the food may or may not be just like how it's cooked at our own homes... And Godmama has not failed to disappoint yet...

This is a new store and located in new Funan mall. Very small restaurant with limited indoor seating but they have alfresco seating outdoor. The food is very authentic and tasty. Very origin taste especially the chicken buah keluak. You can even eat the buah keluak with a small spoon provided but quite tasteless. The Adam fish tasted great with the fish skin slightly char.. the stewed spicy belly pork with added jasmine rice will go perfectly. The red date dessert was good... the fried chicken wing was great with great seasoning of the chicken. The Ngo Hiang is perfectly fried till crispy skin outside and juicy inside. Well prepared with chili and sweet sauce make it a perfect dish with few beers.. service is attentive and friendly staff. Enjoy my food here but the beer is rather expensive.. $15 for a small can of beer...

I went to celebrate a get together for a visiting friend from the US and tot he might like to share some of our insight of local foods which we pick Godmama in Funan mall. The restaurant has a hip element in it and so I tot it would be good to try. My hands were not fast enough to hide my disappointment when the food came. Let's see where to begin.. The food was slightly cold which means it was prepared like a scooping method in the kitchen from a warmer. No deco on top of the food which means the people standing behind the dish out are cooks but no chefs. No pride so just dish out. Which means owners are focusing on manpower issues in the kitchen when using scooping and microwave methods. Another deduction is that the kitchen staff have little knowledge of Peranakan food thats why this method is used. The buah keluak chicken I believe is not cooked together with the sauce. The sauce is cooked in advance and poured on top of the chicken with the nuts cooked or steamed separately. I didnt detect much gingers in the bk sauce, almost like some restaurants I know which is the watery version but they charge much cheaper. The reason, the chicken meat itself doesn't have any flavor of the sauce and slightly mushy, overcooked. Heck care attitude in the kitchen..Chap chye is debateable, no dried shrimp flavor, some put carrot but not necessary. It turn out a bland tau cheow cabbage dish. Not even enough garlic was detected which means they did not tumis the bean paste with the garlic long enough. Humptump cooking. Only the so call babi assam barely made it but come to think of it, I dont taste much assam in it. A bit on the salty side. The so call baramundi dish was too salty and they use the lower grade of baramundi. The beef rendang was not soft enough which means the cooks did not check carefully before pouring the sauce on top. You heard me, the beef is believed not cooked together with the sauce. Omg the chicken wing is lagi disappointing. Just winglet with the bone taken out and served with a bit of sambal belachan mayo? The so call blue pea rice was as bad as it came, they use those less than $50 per bag kind of rice because the rice grains came broken; lousy quality. And they sure couldnt even wait for the coloring of the blue pea to mature before pouring the blue color into the rice cooker resulting in a very mild colored blue pea rice, hardly any fragrance came out of it. Come on.. The staff who took our order doesn't even know how many pieces are there in their dishes. No push for liquor which the menu tries to emphasize. We didnt even order any prawns and the bill came up to $270 for 9 pax for this quality of food. No sambal belachan on the table. No greeting, just loud blaring music. Everything is wrong with this establishment and I will not be returning for sometime to come.
