My husband and I stayed here for 1 night, en route to another destination. We were thrilled with the service and atmosphere of the hotel. NOT to be confused with Fullerton Hotel, which is just down the road. This one is the Fullerton Bay Hotel. The hotel is so beautiful and elegant, with very high ceilings on the ground floor and floor-ceiling glass all around, to enjoy the waterfront location. One feels one has gone back to Singapore heydays, surrounded by subdued luxury, classic architecture and old nautical maps. Would highly recommend to business and leisure travelers. Read on for detailed review.
Upon arrival by airport taxi, we were asked our last name, our bags were whisked away, and we were personally escorted to the check-in desk. Griselda at the check-in counter greeted us by name as we walked up. Check-in was fast, and she personally escorted us up to the room and showed us around.
Right on the water, in the CBD and arts district, about a 20 minute drive from the airport
ROOM & DECOR
We were in a Premier Room. You could walk out to a balcony which had a comfortable chair and small table. The views were beautiful, overlooking the bay. You could see the “Durian” theatre buildings, Marina Bay Sands and “Lotus” museum building from our room. Décor was beautiful and elegant, very appropriate to the heritage of the location, while still equipped with up-to-date technology.
Bathroom is very large, with double sinks, separate large shower stall with a convenient stool, large bathtub with glass wall looking into bedroom (and a full blind for privacy), and separate toilet closet within the bathroom. Plenty of good quality toiletries provided, soft bathrobes (big enough for all sizes) and slippers.
The room, located on 4th floor, was very quiet at night, perfect blackout curtains. Bed and linens were very comfortable, with several pillow options. The temperature was easily controlled.
Room & bathroom were very clean, common areas were immaculate, linens also very clean. One comment to management: In certain light, I could see many handprints and (I assume) body prints on the wall of the bathroom, adjacent to the shower. One would not expect a wall to be cleaned in between every guest, but this looked like several months worth of contact. Better have a regular scheduling for wiping these down, as the wall material is not forgiving.
ROOF BAR & POOL
The pool has excellent views across the Bay. There is a big building behind the hotel, which blocks afternoon and evening sunlight. So not a great bet for sunbathing. But with the high temperatures in Singapore, that extra shade would be a blessing for most. The pool is well designed, with sunbeds and side tables directly in the water, in a shallow plateau all around the pool. This drops off to a slightly deeper surround, just deep enough to lie in with a drink in your hand, then drops off to regular pool depth. The pool is long enough to do laps in. Staff came by regularly (but not too often), to offer more towels, cold water, and cocktails. The bar has a lot of seating, both with and without shade. It seemed a very popular spot for business meetings and after-work cocktails. And why not, with that amazing view and great ambient music?
Internet connection was easy and fast, including around the pool and in the lobbies.
SERVICE & EXTRAS
The personal escort by our check-in staff was very appreciated, as opposed to being handed off to a bell-hop. We enjoyed the selection of international newspapers delivered in the morning. All staff were very friendly and warm. We unexpectedly were given a nice bottle of red wine and fruit basket shortly after our arrival, as well as 2 welcome signature cocktails at the Landing Point bar.
