Had our Valentine's Day dinner here. I love the wagyu steak with truffle fries on the V-Day menu! The beef was so tender and juicy. Service and ambience was excellent. To top it off, we won a pair of tickets to Chicago The Musical upon payment. Thanks for a fantastic day and experience!

Meals were delicious and it was only highlighted by the amazing service the staff gave. I went there with a girlfriend of mine. She had the steak and I chose the duck confit with truffled mash. The mash was perfectly creamy and was not lumpy at all. Steak was cooked to perfection!
Ambience in the restaurant was romantic and classy, perfect for a Saturday evening.
I highly recommend!

We had lunch here on the 6th day of the Chinese Lunar New Year, and I was looking forward to sampling the 3 course set menu offered for lunch at $34.00 ++. Unfortunately, the set lunch menus were not available due to their suppliers being still on vacation. We had to settle for the a la carte menu, which served a smaller range of dishes and at a more expensive price.

Bistro Du Vin is situated on the ground floor of Shaw Center in the Orchard Road area, facing a small busy road lane. Established in July 2009, they commit themselves to delivering authentic dining experience of a French Bistro, complete down to the furniture, memorabilia on the walls, French music and even a flag of France! They are part of the award winning Les Amis group in Singapore.

I found the tables and chairs rather cramped especially in the main restaurant, only slightly better with the tables near the window. The ceiling has been lowered possibly to accommodate the air conditioning system, but it felt claustrophobic. Fortunately, we sat next to the window, where the view of the outside reduced this sensation. The music was piped, and a little too loud, perhaps in an attempt at sound masking as the other diners sit about 2 feet next to you!

Service was polite and attentive. The food came quite promptly. We wanted to share some of the dishes, and the waitress obliged providing the necessary extra cups, plates and cutlery. I noted they used paper napkins not cloth. My glass of water was constantly being refilled. We ordered (to share) the French onion soup with croutons and cheese; the duck leg confit with Pommery mustard mash and mesclun salad; pan roasted black cod fillet with ratatouille; and for desert, to share the Grand Marnier soufflé with vanilla ice cream; finishing off with coffee.

I found the Onion soup too saltish. The pan roasted cod definitely lacked seasoning, and was bland. The duck leg confit was very good, with a crispy skin and tender well-seasoned meat falling off the bone. The soufflé was fluffy, smooth and soft, and it tasted nice with the sweet caramelised top, a hint of alcohol, and the vanilla ice cream.

The place does not offer WiFi. I don’t think it’s wheel-chair friendly. The restaurant was less than half occupied during the lunch, but with a well stocked bar, I suspect that it could become crowded during dinner time. In any case, it’s best to call in to book a table, especially if you want one at the front glass window. There is also a 2 course set lunch menu for $29.00++, but like the 3 course set lunch menu, is available after the Lunar New Year season is over. Just to have an idea of the cost for the a la carte option: The Duck dish and the cod cost $34.00 and $38.00 respectively. It’s no brainer that you would want the lunch sets as it’s certainly more value for your dollar! Bon appetit!

We occasionally come here in time for dinner before a movie at Shaw Centre. Consistently good food and friendly service.

They do get busy during regular dinner times, so reservations are recommended, but before 7, we have always found a table unannounced.

Reserved a table for two on Boxing Day. Ambience was cosy, but the tables and chairs were placed too close to each other which didn't offer much for privacy and meant that we couldn't move our chairs to give ourselves more space. Each table had bag hooks underneath the table, which is definitely considerate for the ladies.
Had the venison and veal from the Christmas menu. Venison was tender and cooked well (medium rare), but the root vegetable purée it came with was personally not a good match with the venison. Veal was cooked with other ingredients (mushrooms, tendon, onions and other various parts of meat) in a cream sauce that might've been better if cooked a little thicker and served with bread to mop up the sauce; but it was served with fries (which we changed to truffle fries for an extra $3). Overall it was quite a good experience but it will only be reserved for special occasions as the prices are a bit high for normal everyday eating.
