We decided to take advantage of the Good Friday public holiday to take the kids on a day trip across to St John's island. So we prepared a picnic lunch, packed plenty of water, and took a taxi to Marina South Pier to get tickets for the St John's island ferry. Unfortunately we weren't the only ones with this idea and there were several hundred other people already milling about trying to buy tickets (which can only be purchased on the day of departure). So after lining up for a while we succeeded in getting tickets ($18 per adult, $12 per child) and queued for the ferry. Because there were so many people the first ferry ended up leaving before 9am, completely full. Another one turned up shortly afterwards though and we were soon on our way. 30 mins later we were at St John's and then about a 20 min walk further we made it to the beach at Lazarus island. There's a good path so it's suitable for baby strollers. But there are no facilities on Lazarus island. Overall a fun day out.
