We decided to take advantage of the Good Friday public holiday to take the kids on a day trip across to St John's island. So we prepared a picnic lunch, packed plenty of water, and took a taxi to Marina South Pier to get tickets for the St John's island ferry. Unfortunately we weren't the only ones with this idea and there were several hundred other people already milling about trying to buy tickets (which can only be purchased on the day of departure). So after lining up for a while we succeeded in getting tickets ($18 per adult, $12 per child) and queued for the ferry. Because there were so many people the first ferry ended up leaving before 9am, completely full. Another one turned up shortly afterwards though and we were soon on our way. 30 mins later we were at St John's and then about a 20 min walk further we made it to the beach at Lazarus island. There's a good path so it's suitable for baby strollers. But there are no facilities on Lazarus island. Overall a fun day out.

Went with group of friends in Good Friday. Didn't expected so many Actually visit the island! You can take the mrt to Marina South Pier Station on mainland Singapore to the cruise center. 2-way ticket is $18 per adult and it takes about 30mins to reach St John's Island. We reached the island on the first ferry and were amazed at the clear sea water there, which we never expected in Singapore water! Though the sun can be hot, it is worth the visit to get close to nature and away from the daily bustling city life.

Do visit the islands (St John's Island is connected with Lazarus Island. And for Kusu Island, it can be reach by continuing the ferry ride before heading back to Marina South Pier.) if you want to rest and relax away from the busy Singapore.
Reaching there: Board ferry at Marina South Pier from Singapore Island Cruise $18 for adult and $12 for child (http://www.islandcruise.com.sg) (board train to NS28 Marina South Pier MRT, Exit B or board bus number 402)
By foot you might be able to cover the island in 2hrs.
Food and beverages: as there is no retail shops around, do pack in lunches or snack.
Things you can do: swimming, fishing, kite flying, barbeque and picnicking.
Staying over on the island is also possible, do book the only holiday bungalow for 10 or holiday camp for larger group up to 60, at sentosa counter (http://www.sentosa.com.sg/en/nature/southern-islands/st-johns-island/)

nothing much at st john's island itself but that shouldn't stop u from coming, walk further down n u'll find a nice beach on lazarus island. it's white, sandy and is u-shaped. u won't get such beach in mainland singapore or sentosa. the waters are less murky than mainland and sentosa. the flora and fauna and nice too. be adventurous. explore these islands. u can bring ur bicycle to cycle around too. there's a lot of cats around so that should interest cat-lovers. though toilets can only be found on st john's itself.

I love St John Island. 20mins ferry ride to experience peace and quiet. You can relax and sunbathe the whole day. Kusu has better water and sand than St John though.
