“Clean and comfortable for Solo Traveler”
Reviewed 11 January 2012

The place looked very nice from the outside and the rooms were clean and average. The staff were friendly.

I loved the look of this place, very stylish, clean, loved the bed on the platform (although it's a bit awkward getting out of it actually) and it was good value for Singapore standards BUT as per below hot water ran out after a minute so endured two cold showers (only stayed one night and informed reception of this when I left). There certainly does seem to be a problem with their hot water system as I left the switch on all night and it was still running cold after about 20 seconds in the morning.

As already mentioned the lack of mirror in the room meant you had to dry your hair 'blind'.

Last but not least, whoever heard of a mini-bar without alcohol? - completely pointless as far as I'm concerned.

I would stay there again because it's hard to find a relatively inexpensive decent hotel in Singapore, bed was comfortable, it was fairly quiet (attic room) and the location is good, staff were friendly and hopefully they will sort out these issues.

Room Tip: Attic rooms are quiet but windowless - there is a skylight - good for sleeping off jet lag!

What could have been a pleasant experience turned out to be a pretty cranky one for my husband and myself. ..Our first impression of the hotel was pretty good...exactly what we were expecting it to be...but the basic amenities required for a comfortable stay were lacking...on arrival we were showed the room but were not told as to how to get hot water in the bathroom. they have a switch (right next to the light switches) that controls the hot water and needs to be turned on for an hour before use...We were in for a rude shock when we went in to take a shower. We immediately informed the receptionist about it after which she apologized for not having informed us earlier..we let it go then...the next day we made the sure the switch was kept on for atleast 4 hours prior... When I went into the shower, the hot water ran for exactly a min after which it started throwing out cold water again...it kept alternating between the two..I had to get out immediately...we called the hotel again..someone came to look at it...saw the problem, apologized and told us we could change the room but only after like 20 min..all this happening while my hair was all wet...the second room had the same issue.i mean WTH!!! If you cant provide basic necessities to your customers then what the use of having a fancy boutique hotel...my vacation was ruined because of this as I caught severe cold and was sniffing and sneezing throughout the trip..they did not even bother to compensate us for their mistake...very disappointing..we were expecting more..we were planning to stay in this hotel on our way back from Thailand for a day but we cancelled it immediately....this place has a long way to goo..especially in its customer service!!! we will surely not recommend it to anyone...

This was the 5th visit to Singapore and instead of staying at these large international chains we went for a boutique style hotel in the Arab quarters. THe sultan hotel was the perfect choice, nice location (close to orchard and the quays, for us scandinavians that fancy a walk).

NIce fresh standard with a nice arab touch. I do love the open bar at the second floor, I do love the small details like the persian (?) carpet tiling in the bathroom.
However, the room are small, has a few issues that can be handled (no mirrors in the room, no waste basket in the bathroom and a quite noisy AC).

Upon arrival I was greeted by pleasant staff at the lobby and check-in was smooth. A gentleman brought me up to the room and we walked through the bar on the second floor. I am very fascinated with the automatic doors which opens at a tap of your room key.

Room had a good design and also the amenities are good, quality wise and according to basic needs. The coffee maker is a charm, easy to operate and an interesting design.

My stay was very comfortable and the staff are very helpful and polite, the lady at the bar on the second floor had excellent service standards and very attentive.

I'm sure to visit this hotel again.

Room Tip: Attic rooms have no windows but has wonderful ambiance!
