Had wanted to visit for years and finally managed it aged 46! We had dinner here and it did not disappoint. From the moment you pull up outside to the second you pull away, it just feels special.

The staff are polite and friendly without being stuffy, imposing or insincere. They're happy to chat if you want to and equally will respect you if you'd rather not. The food was really good, I mean really good. In fact the steak I ordered was the best I'd ever tried and I suspect everything else will lack in the future! The sommelier was just brilliant; she couldn't contain her excitement at our choice of wine and went on to tell us a little about the vineyard it came from!

Yes it was eye wateringly expensive (£500 for 3 courses plus wine and aperatives!) but it was worth it for how it tasted and for all that it was and for the memory it's given us.

The Singapore Sling at Raffles. The drink is over a hundred years old. The hotel is even older and undergoing a major facelift thru mid 2018. If you haven't experienced either, you may want to wait until after the re-opening in mid-2018 to do so.

Dear DMJA21,

i am pleased to hear that like many world travellers, you made it a point to visit Raffles Singapore and have a taste of our iconic Singapore Sling.

I am also pleased to share that we have commenced on our careful and sensitive restoration programme which will be carried out in three phases. Phase One began on 13th February 2017 and areas that are now closed for restoration includes the Long Bar, Long Bar Steakhouse, Raffles Courtyard, Ah Teng's Bakery, the retail arcade and banqueting facilities. The Singapore Sling will still continue to be served at the hotel’s Bar & Billiard Room. The other areas of the property operate as normal.

Phase Two will commence in the middle of August 2017 which will involve restoration works on some of the hotel suites. Phase Three will start end of 2017 where the hotel will be fully closed. A grand reopening is planned for middle of 2018.

The restoration of Raffles Singapore is designed to ensure that we retain what is so special about Raffles – the ambiance, the service, the charm and the heritage of the hotel. It is also designed for Raffles Singapore to stay relevant and distinctive by moving with the times and with its guests and adapting to the changing needs of the well-travelled and Singapore’s community.

We look forward to welcoming you back with us soon!

Yours sincerely,
Simon Hirst

If you have even a smidgeon of the romantic in you, this is for you. It's one of those places you just hate to leave, it's that good. Everything was just dreamy, from the sumptuous breakfasts to the guest amenities to the genuinely warm hospitality and spacious room. Sheer bliss. A reminder that elegance is also a feeling, and it's nice to be reminded.

We went here to try the Singapore sling and the tradition of cracking open peanuts and throwing the shell on the floor! The surroundings are beautiful, you can imagine old style British men in white linen suits and Panama hats discussing deals. It's very grand and is a must on a visit.

Dear Gaz8r,

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It is delightful to hear that you have thoroughly enjoyed your time here with us, including the 100 year old tradition of brushing peanut shells shells off the table and bar-top to the floors. This is possibly also the only place in Singapore where “littering” is encouraged.

The colonial atmosphere brings our guests back in time to the 1920s era, exuding a sentiment of nostalgia.

Thank you once again for the kind comments and we hope to welcome you back with us soon.

We visited Raffles for the famous Singapore Slings as no trip to Singapore is complete without this little visit. We were not disappointed, wonderful cocktails and the atmosphere was brilliant, I thoroughly recommend popping in if you are over this side of the city. Don't forget to throw those shells on the floor!!

Dear Naomi C,

Thank you for taking the time to share your wonderful compliments with us. I am pleased that you thoroughly enjoyed your Singapore Sling experience at Raffles Singapore. Indeed, the unique practice of throwing peanut shells on the floor is a deeply rooted 100-year old tradition at the bar and is enjoyed by many of our guests. It is also quite possibly the only place in Singapore where ‘littering is encouraged’.

Once again, thank you for your kind comments and I hope to welcome you back to Raffles Singapore in the future, perhaps for a stay this time.
