a lovely time - the food wa perfect. the tartare was fabulous and all was high standard.
wine is extremely expensive, we chose an excellent saint estephe - no regrets but that s a pity they don t have a middle range wine bottle (80/90)...you don’t want to drink all the time an excellent and expensive wine.
service and atmosphère are excellent
i recommande the place.

Fantastic food, some of the best French I've had in Singapore. Service was polite, efficient and well trained. The wine list is quite expensive ($98SGD for a 500ml carafe for a mid range Boudreaux), however the quality is excellent and the service of it was fantastic.

My husband and I had a very enjoyable meal there last week - we went for the set menu - good choices - good portions - and reasonable price for quality food - it all stopped there the wine price was outrageous - we paid 90 SGD for a prosecco (it was the cheapest wine on offer) and not good quality - would we go back? sadly no as we would feel we were being ripped off having to pay around 130 SGD for a bottle of red or white wine - I mean you can’t have a lovely French meal without wine!.

Bonjour Madame. Indeed thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant and for your positive feedback on our food. We appreciate your candor and likewise we sincerely hope you do not take issue with us aligning some facts. As a French restaurant we only carry French wines. We do not carry Prosecco, only because prosecco is an Italian sparkling wine.

What you had ordered was in fact a bottle of non vintage Champagne Grand Cru Brut Tradition as indicated on our menu, priced below S$100 (90 SGD to be exact, as stated in your review) and already at a very competitive price since Champagne by the bottle generally sells for above S$100 in restaurants all over Singapore.

As for our wines, being that they all hail from France, good French wines unfortunately do come at a price. While we do not deny the fact that there are cheaper French labels and younger vintages, our philosophy behind our stellar wine list is the notion that if we are going to serve authentic quality French food, then our best intentions is to compliment the entire dining experience with equally matched quality wines at a reasonable price range. Cheaper versions of French wines are readily available on supermarket shelves, pubs, clubs and cafes if one chooses. So the idea that we have positioned ourselves as an upmarket French diner serving quality homemade centuries old traditional French classic dishes from one the world’s oldest and largest wine producing country, provided us with an inclination towards a selection of good sophisticated French wines from reputable wineries that are drinkable and truly worth enjoying.

Allow us to state definitively that our business does not exist to “rip off” anyone. We are now into our eighth year of operations in 2018, and our prices continue to remain extremely competitive.

Still on our menu which you had missed out is a gorgeous bottle of
2013 Rosé priced at 98 SGD (89/100 points Wine Spectator)
2012 Ferraton Pere La Source St Joseph Rhône Valley white wine bottle priced at 99 SGD (91/100 points Wine Spectator) and
2011 Vacqueyras Cuvée Doucinello red wine bottle at 118 SGD (88/100 points Wine Spectator).

Our best wishes to you Madame and thank you for dining at Taratata Bistrot.
