“What a surprise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2012

With reluctance I booked our tickets to Singapore Zoo as my wife wanted to experience "Jungle Breakfast Amongst Orangutans" The package was booked in Uk on the internet through a company named Viator . The package was pick up and return to hotel plus entrance and the Jungle breakfast at a cost of around £28 pp (Twenty eight British pounds ) Pick up about eight thirty am , arrive about Nine plus in readiness for the breakfast approx nine thirty. The food at the breakfast was a bit of a let down , but what made it up was the pictures we took and had taken of us with the orangutans, absolutely fantastic to be allowed to be so close to these fasinating and beautiful creatures.
Now , the return to our hotel was about mid-day, which didn't leave us much time to explore the zoo. So it was decidedto stay and arrange our own transport back . This was the best move we could possibly make as the zoo was fantastic, a big surprise to me as I'm not a lover of zoo's. Spotlessly clean , well organized and not a cage in sight . We spent an enjoyable and a leisurely stroll around the zoo and gazed at the wonderful animals in natural surroundings. For an additional cost of adult 5 singapore dollars and child 3 you can have unlimited tram rides and for 6 singapore dollars and child 3.50 unlimited boat rides . Elephants at work and play , splash safari , animal friends show all included .Plus an animal feeding programme. A great day away from the maddening crowds.in the city .
We took a taxi back to the city at a cost of about ten pounds .Which we thought was a good deal . A surprisingly (to me) , highly recommended day out at a reasonable price.

“The Singapore Zoo: A must visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2012

I can't help but be envious that you have such a fantastic zoo. Everything here is so organise and realistic. It had been a very impressive experience for my kids.
I also recommend everyone to visit The Night Safari so be prepared to spend a whole afternoon and evening here.

“The Night Safari was OK, but not as brilliant as I had been told”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2012

Our family (two young children) did not have time to visit the zoo itself, so we took the Night Safari which my relatives had recommended. The about 45-minute taxi ride from the hotel to the zoo was quite a surprise considering how small a place Singapore is supposed to be. Fortunately getting a taxi back at the end of the evening was very easy.

The Night Safari took the visitors around some sections of the zoo in a 'train'. The tour itself was decent, but I found the narrative from the guide to be somewhat annoying, being politically correct and eco-friendly in quite an extreme manner. I think the experience would have been better, if we had been able to use the provided opportunity to explore on foot. However, this was not practical due to taking the tour with two tired and sleepy young children.

The price of the Night Safari included a concluding animal show in an amphitheatre. The show was actually quite nice, but it was already so late that our 3-year old just wanted to sleep instead of enjoying the show.

We had supper at the zoo before going back to our hotel. The restaurant was not fancy but it was quite expensive, although not outrageous; in the end not so surprising considering the relatively remote location of the zoo.

“Up Close and Personal”

I think the animal feeding is part of the fun, despite the cost. Check out the feeding schedule on their website. What's a couple of dollars compared to the delight on your child's face when feeding a giraffe? There are even opportunities to come face to face with lions (albeit with a glass screen in between) and enough restaurants and refreshment areas to sit down and cool off in. Also, the children's water play area is always a highlight for my kids. Some of the animal shows can be given a miss though. Nothing fantastic there. If you have to go for one, the elephant show is probably the most fun.
