The hotel itself is a boutique hotel within the financial district of Singapore, across from a subway station and within easy walking distance of the "party" street and from Chinatown. We walked to the Marina, the Gardens, Chinatown, the CBD, the National Museum, the Peranakan Museum, Fort Canning, the Asia Civilization Museum and the Boat Quay.
It had been a series of apartments over shops but has been recreated into the hotel - the old building bones are still there as can be seen from the hotel corridors having to slope up or down to connect properly. The temple that had been on the site is still used as the entry way into the hotel. The rooms themselves are modern, complete with flat screen TVs, fully stocked refreshment refrigerator, in room safe, lots of power connections at a nicely appointed desk, and a good sized "double" bed (in North America we'd call it a queen size mattress).
Breakfast was in the restaurant next door - one of the best hotel breakfast experiences - good food, delivered fast and with friendly staff.
BUT the selling feature is not the physical hotel it's the Staff! They are amazing - all of them! From the way they received us, to the welcome drink, to arranging airport transfers for us, helping us arrange the hop on hop off bus tours, giving us great directions and lots of maps, to making sure we were okay using the cell-phone provided (for GPS and local calls), to making sure we had lots of water every time we left the building, to wanting to give us umbrellas in case it rained (we had our own), to addressing us by name - they genuinely wanted us to enjoy our stay with them - AND WE DID. They were all very friendly, very accommodating, very well trained.
Last, we had a very late (early - 1am) flight out of Singapore. We spent all day touring around after leaving our bags with the front desk. We arrived hoping to be able to get changed into our travel clothes at the hotel somewhere. They gave us a room to have a quick shower so that our trip would be more comfortable. That's service!!!!
When we get back to Singapore we will, without a doubt, stay there again.
