“Good exhibits in a fine building”

Civil Defence Heritage Gallery
Ranked #204 of 899 things to do in Singapore
Attraction details
Reviewed 27 February 2018

The museum narrates the history of civil defence, but particularly the fire service in Singapore. There are numerous fire engines and appliances on display on the ground floor, and a more generic exhibition upstairs. The whole place is free admission, but there s a small gift shop that we purchased something from in order to contribute.

What is refreshing is that due acknowledgement is given to the contribution of British people who moulded the fire service over the years, rather than try to change history as we have sometimes found in other former colonies.

My kids love the fire trucks on display at fire station. Good location near to other more well known sights makes it worth a look. being free is a bonus

This was the third time i visited this place. Behind every artefact displayed here lies a story. While the Civil Defence Heritage Gallery showcases over 1,500 artefacts, it is more than just a historical museum. The gallery’s team share their real life experiences and stories of the past with visitors. Warrant Officer Segar was kind enough to share his first-hand experience with me and my 8-year-old daughter. There is an\n exhibit of a K-9 dog wearing a rescue vest installed with K-9 Cam, allowing easier recognition and differentiation from other dogs. The souvenir shop is decked with many beautiful souvenirs.

This is a lovely and free gallery with numerous exhibits relating to the civil defence of Singapore.
It's great for a 15-30 minute visit.

Interesting small museum you can pop in between others and free to boot. I was interested to see the first (wooden) ladders used were made in Manchester.
