This was out first stop in Santiago and after agonising over the various areas to stay we decided on Barrio Italia and booked at the Maison Italia.

The hotel is relatively new and only has 5 rooms so the service is exceptional and the rooms and brilliantly clean. We were given a room with an outdoor terrace which was awesome... the neighbouring venues all had music playing and there was lots of atmosphere in the street, but without being annoying or disruptive.

Breakfast is included every day and the chef will basically prepare whatever you want, omelette, pancake, poached eggs etc - the selection was good.

Within 50-100m of the hotel there are some really great restaurants and all filled with locals... no tourist traps. Opposite the hotel is a great Tex BBQ restaurant, 20m away is am awesome pizza restaurant, CasaLuz offers local cuisine and fine dining experience whilst down the other end of the barrio is Thai, Italian, Indian and more local cuisine than you could conquer in one visit to Santiago.

I would easily recommend this to any first timers into Santiago and an Uber into the main touristy areas is less than AUD7 so avoid the chaos and stay in this beautiful neighbourhood.

We had such an enjoyable stay at Maison Italia. Upon arrival, they were waiting for us and more than happy to accommodate an early check-in, and went so far as to give us an upgrade to a room with a balcony without us even asking and 2 drink tickets to enjoy our first Pisco Sour in Chile at their rooftop bar. The location is very central and walkable to other popular neighborhoods in Santiago and they also have bikes you can take to cruise around the city on. The staff was nothing but incredibly friendly and helpful in recommendations for places to eat as well as arranging an early taxi to the airport for our departure. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast at the upstairs restaurant as well, which was very fresh and incredibly delicious. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: São apenas 5 quartos, e pelo que pude perceber, todos são ótimos!
