Owner description: This hillside tram is over 100 years old and is now a national monument. Tourists can still ride the lift today and take in breathtaking panoramic views of downtown and the ocean.

Another of the nice Ascensors, on the Northern edge of town. Not much at the top apart from nice views of the port, the Maritime Museum and a few nice local restaurants and cafes

Ascensor Artillery takes you to a great view of the city and harbor. Beautiful Victorian homes up top.

Great old ascensor to take you to the top of the hill. Slow, rickety ride but worth it since it costs almost nothing to ride. Once at the top, the views are amazing and there are a few tourist shops and a little market shop where you can buy snacks and drinks. If you'd rather not ride the ascensor, you can walk up a path.

This is not that much different than the other ascensors in Valparaiso. They are all ancient and mechanically basic. Once you arrive at the top, there are great vistas of the port and a craft market selling tourist stuff. When you descend and walk back to town, stick to the street nearest the harbor. We were two or three blocks in from the harbor. I got attacked by a purse snatcher and knocked to the ground. (I managed to keep my purse) People chased him and a nice woman insisted upon escorting us back to Sotomayor Plaza where she hailed a cop. We were told that is a very bad neighborhood. So be careful...it doesn't look that different from other neighborhoods. It may be best to stick to the other ascensors.

One of the best 'ascensores' in the city and from the top you can get a great view of it with the city behind.
