Owner description: This hillside tram is over 100 years old and is now a national monument. Tourists can still ride the lift today and take in breathtaking panoramic views of downtown and the ocean.

Antique elevator train car that not only saves your tires legs from the endless stairs but also offers incredibly gorgeous views of the marina! Do this!!

This is my favorite ascensor in Valparaiso. It goes up near the Naval Museum, and Wheelwright plaza is at the top, home to a local art marketplace. You can get good prices on lapis lazuli and silver jewelry here, hand made sweaters, and oil paintings, just to name a few. Skip the restaurant at the top though! Great view from the park on top.

Valparaiso has a beauty of its own. While I realize it's not the "upscale" part of town, it still is a fun and interesting place to visit. We rode the cable car up the hill and then walked down afterwards. Great views and enjoyable (and cheap)!

While the view going up isn't very exciting, for 300clp a person, it's still worth the ride -- the views from the top are excellent!

On our tour through the Paseo 21 De Mayo neighbourhood and halted briefly to view this funicular from the base. It is one of the 16 funicular railways located in Valparaíso. and is privately owned. This was the third funicular railway built in the city. It was commissioned on the 29th of December 1892 but did not commence operation until 22nd of January 1893. Interesting piece of history.
Now this would have been more interesting than the bus ride to the lookout.
