My husband, two young adult daughters and I stayed three nights in the hotel two weeks ago before heading off for a Galapagos cruise. We had two rooms toward the back of the second floor, and there were very few guests in the hotel, so it felt like we had the floor to ourselves. The rooms, each of which is different in floorplan, were very clean and comfortable with modern bathrooms but antique style furnishings. (The entire hotel was filled with antique bric-a-brac and furniture that felt a bit like visiting the mansion of a wealthy spinster aunt at the turn of the 19th century, but it made the experience fun.) There was a lovely sunny little breakfast room where we enjoyed excellent breakfasts each morning and even arranged for dinner when we didn't have the energy to go out. The service in the hotel could not have been better. The location was also very good: we walked to the historic district in about 10 minutes through an area that felt quite safe.

Room and bath (great shower) appointments were first rate--good location for walking down into Old Town (without being in the middle of it) or up to Mariscal Sucre district--and also inexpensive cab rides to key locations in Quito. Dinner in the dining room was very good--reasonably priced, excellent dishes--and the breakfasts! Oh to be sitting back with the singing canaries and flowers in the morning with fresh fruit, eggs, bacon,.....shall I go on? I highly recommend this hotel and its staff--first rate accommodation.

This is a nice boutique hotel. The rooms and hotel have beautiful furnishings. It looks like it should be a hotel in paris. The staff were very helpful especially andres. The only things i think that need to be improved are the amount of toiletries given and better quantity of towels. I also think the bathrooms could be updated and the breakfast improved. The selection is minimal but maybe that is what breakfast consist of in ecuador. If you can book the owners suite. It is equivalent to a presidential suite in the states except for the bathroom.

This hotel is very unusual - it is a converted, very grand, family home and is full of some very exotic furniture and flamboyant touches.

It is a bit faded in places, especially the bathrooms and the floors creak like an old ship on the sea!

The breakfast was very good and the staff charming.

NB the hotel seems to run on chocolate - soap, shampoo, candles, not to mention the stuff you eat. If you are allergic, like I am, this could be an issue. Also, its way of handling Quito's "permanent spring" is have no heating which can be a bit challenging if waking early.

Room Tip: I suspect the superior rooms might be worth the extra.

We stayed at Hotel Mansion del Angel on two occasions, going and returning from Galapogas. During our first stay we were sick and exhausted from nearly two weeks in the Amazon and Machu Picchu. We stayed right in our beautiful, elegant, and comfortable canopy bed for most of our stay. Having the lovely little bistro right on premises was an added bonus.
When we returned we had another amazing suite and we so enjoyed the luxury after living on a small ship. The staff was exceptional and we felt very pampered. We would definitely return to Hotel Mansion Del Angel if ever in Quito again.
