When I began to plan for our Ecuadorian 10th anniversary trip I spent time researching the country, city of Quito and hotels. I came across Villa Colonna and after reading the excellent reviews I booked this exquisite hotel for 5 nights.
Upon arrival we were greeted with a big smile at the airport by Santiago, he drove us the 45min drive to Villa Colonna where we entered a world of beauty.
My wife was overwhelmed that in our room was a large arrangement of her favourite flowers. That was due to Debra asking me what can they do to make our special trip memorable.
Pascal prepared each day amazing breakfasts, introduced us to local fruits and vegetables. All of which were organic as they had taken the time to connect themselves with farmers that grew strictly organic products. Also we had the option to have dinner at the hotel which after a day out exploring was just what we needed. Pascals dinners were delicious and conversation with other guests made for enjoyable evenings.
They also arranged tours for us and we were able to see far more than we had thought.
What we discovered was that Quito has so much to offer and we could have spent several more days but we will have to save that for another visit.
So a big thank you to Pascal, Debra and staff who made sure our anniversary was filled with amazing memories that we will treasure always

Dear Nate ,

We were so pleased to have been part of your anniversary trip. You and your wife were wonderful and fun guests and Villa Colonna was full of laughs during your stay. Thank you for mentioning that we do care what we serve to our guests and making sure we find the best organic products has been a priority from the beginning.

You sure did see lots while here and your photos from your Quilotoa crater hike were fantastic and knowing you left with amazing memories makes us feel good.

We wish for you many more happy years making beautiful memories together.

Warm regards,

Pascal & Debra

If you plan to stay in Quito then you will not find a better hotel. Debra and Pascal are brilliant hosts and make you feel completely at home. Never before have we been so well looked after with Pascal cooking exactly what you ask for at a time to suit you. Breakfasts are also brilliant again at a time to suit you. We plan to go back to Ecuador and this is partly so that we can stay at Villa Colonna again.

This is my second time staying at Villa Colonna and it’s even better than the last. The owners Pascal and Debra took the time to get to know me, from what I would prefer to have for breakfast, my favorite flowers, even arranging a daily taxi for me to take to work and back.

As I travel a good deal for work it is a pleasure just knowing I can return from a day of meeting to this peaceful, relaxing sanctuary. I know this type of hotel, quality and service is rare and I could not be happier with my chose in Villa Colonna. A big thank you to the staff as well Pascal and Debra for a wonderful stay... see you next time!

Enroute to the Galapagos we spent 2 nights at this very special place. Debora and Pascale were exceptional hosts at their beautiful boutique hotel. It was better than a hotel as we were welcomed like friends to eat at their table while Pascale cooked up delicious meals using organic local produce as he entertained us with incredible stories of his life! The bed was very comfortable and our room was beautifully furnished as were all the rooms in this refurbished old grandees house. They both went out of their way to show us the delights of Quito and it was a perfect start to the most wonderful holiday.

Dear Cheryll,

Pascal and I thank you for taking time to write us this very kind review. So nice to hear that your time in the Galapagos was excellent. I know for your husband Ecuador was a destination he had waited long to experience and we are happy to have been a part of that. We had a fun time showing you around this beautiful historic city just steps from Villa Colonna.
Trust the snow and cold weather had disappeared by your return and we wish you a 2018 filled with health, happiness and more adventures together.

Warm regards,

Debra & Pascal

Well, it is a bit hard to write a review of Villa Colonna that is going to say much that hasn’t been said by the terrific reviews from other travelers, but we do want to add our highest recommendation for this beautiful gem of a B&B. We visited in early February, 2018.

As may be apparent, there is a five year hiatus in the reviews. We are not entirely sure of the history, but we know that the current owners bought the property relatively recently and after some extensive work on the interiors and the building systems (hot water, for example), reopened the place in mid-2017. We believe that, for a time before Pascal and Deborah bought the building, it had been slated to become the Turkish embassy, but that never happened. The important factor in all this is that as good as the reviews are for 2012 and earlier, this is a different place and it is now about as good as it gets for a bed and breakfast.

Coming in off Benalcazar street in the old part of the city, you go from a rather ordinary old exterior into a very special interior setting. The décor is at once tasteful and unusual: One-of-a-kind lighting fixtures worked in with part of Pascal’s Cuban art collection, antique furniture, oriental rugs on wood floors and six unique, good sized guest rooms (that is, each one is different and, from what we saw, each with its own character and beauty—no reason, other than size of bed and perhaps location in the house. to pick one over the other in terms of quality of accommodations). Walk up to the roof terrace (there are only two stories and the roof is one flight up from the second) and enjoy a lovely view of the old city.

While you won’t get all the amenities of a big hotel (like the doorman and the concierge desk), you will get lovely and spotless accommodations (including great beds, bedding and pillows) with plenty of character, a lot of amenities and very personal attention. Instead of a concierge, we had the owners telling us places to go (and then deciding they would take the time to walk us around the city for a morning, pointing out sites and places of particular interest). The breakfasts are special and feature organic produce, local cheeses and, at least while we were there, Pascal’s remarkable breakfast creations and Deborah’s own baked breads. And the freshly cut flowers in all the rooms and throughout the Villa were amazing. If you are looking for someplace that will enhance the memories of your trip, this is a great place to stay in Quito.

Room Tip: Each of the rooms is different. Different sizes, beds and bathrooms. email the hotel for particulars.

Good morning and a big thank you from Pascal and myself for this very well written review.
Very kind and thoughtful of you to have taken the time to share your experiences here in Quite and with us. We both enjoy sharing the history of this amazing city and for us taking time out of our day to walk with guests the few blocks to the main square and show them sites that should not be missed is a pleasure.
We are pleased you enjoyed the hotel and thank you for mentioning many of the special things we have done to ensure our guests have the highest quality of food, room furnishings and service.

Best wishes for a 2018 filled with health and happiness.

Warm regards,

Pascal & Debra
