The waterfall is spectacular and not too far from Cuenca. The drive from Cuenca is not too long and was very scenic. Eddie is a very safe driver - we never had to worry about excess speed or inappropriate passing both so common in Ecuador. His car was a spotless and comfortable SUV. He gave us great information on a wide variety of subjects - birds, plants, Ecuadorian politics, the various indigenous people and even the street dogs. He answered all of our many questions! Busa Lake was also attractive. As of 2020 it has just been spruced up for day tripping and camping and you can fish, eat or walk around the lake. More a slice of Ecuadorian life than an unadulterated nature experience. In that way the contrast of the falls and the lake are perfect. Eddie also took us to Giron to see the modern church with beautiful stained glass. We enjoyed our day very much and recommend Polylepis without reservation.

Edison was my guide that day and as an Historian I had a great time learning about the Inca remains around Cuenca. The site is worthwhile but more so the great explanations. Thank you Edison for sharing that day with me.
