The location is very good and there are some very friendly helpful staff working here.
We stayed in the Gypsy suite and were sold on pictures that looked like some care and effort had been put in to the place.
The main issues that let this place down for us were that there were no curtains in the room on neither the window nor the "skylight". This would be okay if there wasn't a bright street light right outside the window at the same level. Sunrise is at 6am in winter.
Also the skylight gathered condensation quickly in the night and dripped on the loft bed and on to the floor downstairs throughout the night leaving the bottom part of the bed wet and a patch on the floor. Obviously the room was very cold - there were plenty of blankets though. Most people seem to be there for the san-pedro at 220 soles a pop and can probably overlook these things. But if you are wanting to trek around or get ready to do machu picchu do not expect a good sleep. Owner nowhere to be seen but to pick up san pedro tour.
Wi-fi terrible, Kitchen dirty.
Night man doing laundry and dishes from 4am in the next room 2 nights in a row

Room tip: Don't choose the Gypsy room.

Located in the heart of Cusco's vibrant and funky San Blas neighborhood, Casa de la Gringa was my introduction to Cusco. For many, Casa de la Gringa is a portal into the “spiritual/shamanic” world of Peru, and provides a safe introduction into this culture for those who are not familiar. The showers are divinely hot, and all the staff are very helpful and friendly. The owner, Leslie, is a very lovely woman from South Africa, and is often there.

While breakfast is included, I usually opted for the 5 minutue walk down to Jack's for a much more satisfying experience. They provide all the coca tea you can drink, and have amazingly fast internet. Highly recommend to book in advance, as this place is very popular. A bit on the pricey side, but worth it.

This hostel is a short walk away from the "Plaza de Armas" which is the main square in Cusco. It´s an even shorter walk to the area of San Blas which has restaurants and nice shops with plenty of souvenirs. The staff was extremely friendly, the rooms were clean and there´s always somebody to help you with directions and suggestions on where to go. There are two small lounge areas which are great for hanging out and meeting new people. The owner and her sons are incredible people with huge hearts. You have to ring the doorbell to get in which is nice for security purposes. I definitely recommend this place.

We stayed here twice in two different rooms. The first was in another part across the street and the second in the main part.
Rooms were Good , cold at night but lots of blankets provided. Breakfast was also good choice of fruit salad or eggs, with bread and jam too. Free tea 24/7 and coffee at breakfast if requested. There is also use of a kitchen. Good value for money

We stayed here for 6 nights recently and had a friendly greeting from the night shift man ! The location in San Blas is great (great restaurants and bars around) and you feel very safe. Beds are comfy and sufficient blankets are given to keep you toasty! Breakfast is good - a choice of fruit salad or eggs with bread rolls jam and butter with coffee and tea and 24 hour hot water for tea ! Showers are usually hot - can get cold once in a while. We used the luggage storage while at Machu Picchu and everything was as we left it! The general crowd are on the spiritual side to say the least - they seem to be into their wachuma ceremonies but they don't push it (not out scene.) highly recommend staying here you won't be dissapointed!
