Loved our 3 night stay. Nicely appointed room with interior courtyard view and oxygen pumped in to help with the altitude. Staff very helpful. 2 free pisco sours per night in the bar. Several teas in the lobby, including coca, to help with altitude. A couple of blocks from the main square. We had a 5 am pick-up for our trip to Machu Picchu and the hotel provided a box breakfast to go at a small fee (I think it was $5) ordered the night before. Excellent breakfast buffet. Also liked the restaurant, Qespi.

Room Tip: ask for courtyard view, quieter

Peru has long been on my bucket list and our first pit stop in Cusco on the way to Machu Picchu was splendid. This great hotel right in the center of the city has old school charm, elegance and exceptional service - right from the time you check in , the restaurants, the support staff all very eager, respectable and engaging.

We had a room overlooking the courtyard which was large and spacious with a lovely bathroom. The spa was nice and massage was great.

The bar with the complimentary Pisco Sour's every evening was awesome and enjoyed it. The restaurant and staff were very helpful and accommodating in organizing neatly packed breakfast's to go since most of the trips start at the crack of dawn and we had to leave the hotel very early. The food in the restaurant was very nice.

The hotel is also centrally located and walking distance from the city center and all the bars and restaurants which was super for us. The place is also very safe and tourist friendly. There is a place to exchange money right outside the hotel which had good rates and convenient as well.

All in all , we had a great trip and the hotel was a big reason why we did.

Highly recommended.

This is one of the prettiest hotels I have stayed in. They did a beautiful job retaining the the aesthetic and feel of the place. The hotel is a sprawled out compound in the middle of town, a few blocks away from the main plaza.

We got upgraded to a suite. Much thanks! The room had a separate living area with its own powder room. The bathrooms was very spacious. Only complaint -- i slept in the living area because there were three in our group. And it was very noisy at dawn with the group pick ups. During the day it was fine because awake anyways, but at night I couldnt really sleep. So maybe install double windows.

Still I really enjoyed my stay.

While in Cusco my husband and I stayed at the JW Marriot El Convento which provides outstanding service. Not only is the hotel gorgeous, a completely renovated 16th century Spanish convent, now with all the modern conveniences and amazing spa and indoor pool. This hotel made our stay in Cusco memorable for many reasons. From the rooms equipped with oxygen to the beautiful breakfast buffet and the comfy lounging area by the fireplace as well as the stunning reception with the sun made out of Swarovski crystals.
But what really makes this hotel unique is its people. The service and the level of attention is unbeatable. One team member in particular that I would like to recognize is Danitza from the restaurant bar Qespi. As you may know, getting adjusted to the altitude in Cusco can be challenging, and as I sat down for dinner at the restaurant with a headache, Danitza offered me a tea that she said helps ease the altitude sickness. She specially crafted a tea made out of fresh herbs that she cut out of the herbal garden in the hotel’s courtyard! Who does that!?
And not only that, but she gave me some “muña herb” in a cup covered by rubbing alcohol and told me that I could let that soak so the herb would release its properties and then I could inhale it when feeling the effects of the high altitude.
Both remedies helped and for sure her dedication to customer service shows a highly trained and skilled staff that goes above and beyond!
Thank you Danitza and to all the team at the JW Marriott El Convento Cusco! Y gracias Perú!

This was a great hotel but the staff made it exceptional. Unfortunately, because of the altitude, we found that we were struggling with altitude sickness in Cusco. The tour operators had reserved the oxygenated rooms for us, and that was comforting. But the first day after arriving in Cusco was hardest, and after spending the day walking, we were not feeling very good. A quick call to the front desk at the Marriott brought oxygen to our room and after just a few minutes, we were feeling much better. The paramedics on duty when we called each night, Ricardo and Angel were very professional and arrived at our rooms quickly after our call.

On the second night, after calling, one of the paramedics explained that we could make the oxygen work better if we kept the bathroom door closed, and the light off. As keeping it on allowed the fan to suck the supplemental oxygen right out. Lesson learned! Wish we'd have had a note in the room telling us that the system would be most efficient with these closed. Maybe the hotel can do that for others.

I highly recommend this hotel as the staff made it very special.

Room Tip: Get the oxygenated rooms, but do keep the bathroom door closed and fan off.
