I was lucky to get this as the five-star mystery hotel on Hotwire (I thought it was going to be the Marriott, haha).

What an interesting hotel, has a tonne of character! We had a room on the third floor in the Piso wing I believe? In any case, the room was painted in reds and was really unique and atmospheric. Bed and pillows the most comfortable I've had so far on the South America trip. Heating/cooling a little tricky to work, the room got a bit stuffy.

We arrived late and weren't able to partake in the Pisco Sour making lesson (but still got to use the voucher at the bar for two free Pisco Sours - again, probably the best of the trip so far).

The real standout was the service, especially the concierges. They went out of their way to assist. One of them even walked us to a laundry close by because we'd had 7kg of dirty laundry that needed to be washed in the space of hours.

On our way down to breakfast one morning, I counted around 10 staff greeting us enthusiastically. Definitely five-star service.

Try to make the most and spend some time exploring the property. We used it as a relaxing treat post Machu Picchu and gladly spent the day resting and getting spa treatments.

We stayed 4 nights and had a great stay. We met Hector each morning for breakfast and he offered great service. Hector was always friendly and made us feel welcome. We also enjoyed the pisco demonstration at the bar and tour. Rooms had air conditioning and well appointed. We'd stay here again.

We stayed here for two nights before going on a 4 day trek and then one additional night on the way back.

From the airport pick up which was friendly efficient to the in hotel service we were not disappointed.

We were lucky enough to be upgraded on both stays. The first time to a suite which was amazing and the second time to a larger king room (photos below). The in-room facilities are great. I've never seen a double room provided with so many towels that are all refreshed during the turn-down service. Multiple bottles of water and of course chocolates on turn down.

Reception and all hotel staff were very efficient and friendly with a great level of English.

The hotel itself has so much character and is ideally situated to the main plaza and great restaurants. We ate in the bar twice for convenience and again, a good selection of food and wines and a comfortable atmosphere to relax in.

One of us was also hit quite badly by the altitude and a quick call to reception (twice) meant a bottle of oxygen was at our room door within 5 minutes.

On our return from the trek, our luggage that we had left in the hotel was already in our room which was great because it meant we were in the much needed shower even quicker!

The only disappointment was that we didn't book into the spa early enough. Even when we tried to book in for the return from the trek with 5 days notice, there were no massages available......so I'd recommend booking before you even arrive into Cusco.

You honestly cannot fault this hotel and I would recommend it in a heartbeat!

Enjoy folks!

I had the most amazing experience at the Palacio Del Inka. The rooms were beautiful and clean; food was delicious; and the service was top notch. Notably, Alan Pimentel, the hotel concierge, surpassed all expectations. Definitely ask for Alan when you visit; he will help arrange tours and guide you through the majestic city of Cusco.

This hotel has almost everything you would expect for a 5 Star Hotel! We had a large spacious suite with a great spacious balcony opening up to a beautiful courtyard. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was immaculate, the bed comfortable, free hot water, flavored water, and coca tea in the beautiful lobby (one tip bring a larger to go cup, we found the cups very tiny). The location is fantastic, walking distance to everything! The history of the building was fascinating with the foundation being in part of a local Incan temple dating back to mid 1400s. Francisco Pizarro built a manor on top of the temple and you can even see part of the wall while visiting the bar. The hotel does have a few quirks. There is no AC, and it is challenging to regulate the room temperature which is quite warm. We did open the balcony doors which helped, but then it got a little noisy not from the anything happening in the quiet courtyard but from the loud Peruvian flute music being played continuously starting at 6 AM. One night it played until after midnight, when my husband couldn't take it anymore called the desk and they immediately turned it off. Great! Except it began playing again early in the morning, when we called the next night at around 9 PM to see if they could turn it down or off. The girl at the reception told him no, it plays every night until 10 PM. They did finally turn it off at 10:10.
We did eat dinner at the beautiful restaurant. The food was great as well as the ambience. However, many charges were added to our bill, almost 20% more AFTER we signed the total on our credit card. I went back the next day and the reception girl said she didn't know why, but would leave a note for the person who ran our credit card. We didn't want to expend any more time on it, so we just let it go. We never did explanation.
Other than that it was a great, relaxing stay. Perfect place to rest and acclimatize to the higher elevation we were not used to.
