The restaurant is clean, food is excellent, price is affordable. What more can you ask for? I had the "menu" and I was able to try 3 different plates plus a drink. The staff was very friendly. highly recommend. I do not remember the exact price, but once you convert to USD the price is not bad at all. Compared to what you can eat at the mercado, it is expensive (in soles) but definitely worth the price.

This is an establishment to get a tasty and filling meal. Since 2004, for each stay in Cusco, I have always eaten in this restaurant at least once or twice. Always have had a hearty and flavorful meal. I like the "ají de gallina". Service is congenial, especially if you initiate the conversation (en español), I have had the same waiter since 2004. I also had my first "cuy" plate ("guinea pig") here. It was good, but not a lot of meat. The prices are moderate. "Los Candiles" is about 70 yards (64 meters) off of the "Plaza de Armas" (NW corner) on "Saphi" street. I have always had wonderful experiences here. (In 2004, during Inti Raymi, Fabiola de la Cuba [Peruvian singer] was dining two tables down from mine.) Again, nothing fancy here, just a good, solid meal.

I invited friends to dinner last night and we were met by a street hawker hyping the restaurant. We went there to be met by a waiter who was rude, arrogant and condescending. They did not have the items we ,ordered. We ended up with warm watery soup. When we asked for bread we were told they were out. Crackers? No they did not have those either.
The worst part came when I tried to pay with my American Express, they said they could not take it. I pointed out the large sign in the window that said American Express and VISA accepted here. Now they say cash only! I had 30 sols, the bill was more. After much debate with them I advised them I would just have to leave and go to an ATM.
Now they tell me they can run my credit card but will have to charge me 10% more! When I advised them that with the service and food I should get a discount. The whole affair was so disappointing and embarrassing in front
One if my guest who has very little money ended up adding enough to my sols to cover the bill. I made a special trip back there today to discuss this with the manager only to find no one claimed to be the manager. The worst restaurant experience ever! AVOID AT ALL COST

This is one of the worst restaurants I have ever eaten at.

We ordered a rocoto relleno as an appetizer, my girlfriend ordered trout and I opted for the cuy (guinea pig) al horno.

The rocoto tasted of nothing, but was inoffensive. The trout was bad. The cook had cooked it at too high a temperature, as the white albumen seeped out leaving the fish dry and mushy at the same time. My girlfriend sent it back.

My cuy was terrible. It was tough as leather and cold. It had clearly been cooked a long time in advance. I too sent my food back and we asked for the bill.

They gave us a bill with all of the items still on it. We told them that we did not expect to pay for the two mains, but would pay for the rocoto and the bottle of water we had.
They took the trout off the bill, but refused to take the cuy off as I had had one bite. I explained that I had one bite, but it was inedible. They told me that it was meant to be like that and that I didn't know anything. After ten minutes of (polite) argument, we decided to pay them (cuy included) and get out.

DO NOT EAT HERE. It is expensive and unjustifiably so. If you like food, eat elsewhere.
