We stayed for 3 nights in all, had one guided tour of the city and visited Sacsayhuaman Inca site above the city (fantastic views over the valley), and one day guiding ourselves around the city - there seemed to be carnivals every day in the main square, and a fireworks competition (really - competing bamboo structures adorned with ingenious firework displays)- so no shortage of things to do. And La Casona is ideally located a 10 minute stroll from the main square and cathedral but with many fascinating shops and good restaurants nearby (Cicciolina is great, or A Mi Manera next door to Cicciolina's is also great).

La Casona itself is built around a courtyard and has a boutique feel of living in an old hacienda - but the décor and finish is 5 star and the breakfast was excellent and the staff were attentive but not obtrusive. A great choice for a first class and relaxing base in Cusco!

Dear guest,

We would like to thank you for taking the time to write this lovely review about our property.

As you mentioned, our strategic location at Plaza Las Nazarenas, next to the Museum of Pre-Colombian Art (MAP), allows our guests to know the famous city from the moment they step out of the hotel.

We would like to thank you for your lovely review, and we hope to be at your service in a future opportunity.

Thank you for recommending Inkaterra La Casona!

I arranged for my parents to stay at Inkaterra La Casona in Cusco on a recent trip, and the experience was exceptional! Due to the small number of rooms as it's an old, colonial house, the service is extremely personalized and on point. The hotel was beautiful to the smallest details, and each room had it's own unique character. The location is also ideal, as its not far from the neighborhood of San Blas (nice and quiet) but also just around the corner from the cathedral and hustle and bustle of Plaza de Armas in the city center. I would absolutely reccommend this hotel for the stellar quality of service.

This delightful hotel is very small (I think 11 rooms) and located in an old Spanish house in a very elegant plaza in the heart of Cusco.

The rooms are very comfortable and stylish - plenty of space and amenities.

The breakfasts were delicious and the service and staff were outstanding.

Highly reccomended.

This is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in globally. The service is impeccable. Ensure you ask for a log fire in your room and the “bubble bath” service! Take afternoon tea and ensure you have at least one night dinner. All in all - wonderful.

This hotel was perfect for our two night stay in Cusco. The location for exploring Cusco couldn't be better.

It is set in a small square just back from the main square in Cusco. The hotel doesn't have a frontage as such and you have to knock on the door to gain entry. However, when you do, you are welcomed with friendly and efficient service and tasteful public rooms.

We arrived late having had a long journey just as the kitchen was closing for the night. When we asked about dinner, they advised that it would not be a problem and we had a pleasant late evening meal in the restaurant. The restaurant or dinning room is small and there wouldn't be enough tables for everyone if they all arrived at once, but that never happened during our stay. The dinning room is elegant and again in keeping with the property with good use of glass to provide light. The service was impeccable and the maitre'd had a nice balance of being friendly but also professional.

The hotel rooms are set around a small courtyard and on two levels. Our room was on the first floor at the rear of the property. It was very peaceful and quiet and we had no issues with noise levels that others have mentioned. The bedroom was quite dark as it only had two small windows that opened onto the courtyard. Like the public rooms it is tastefully decorated and in keeping with the age and style of the property. The bathroom was spacious (as big as the bedroom). We had two very restful sleeps during our stay.

What I think sets this hotel apart is the way it has been maintained and presented which is keeping with the age and style of the property. It is a listed national monument. The whole feel of the hotel made a nice change from modern boxes, regardless of luxury.

With only 11 rooms the level of service is attentive and personal. If you are on the first floor there is a small flight of stairs to climb.

We loved the hotel, with it being small it felt like a tranquil oasis and the architecture and its age makes it feel special. If you like more of a buzz or part of a larger group or prefer things more modern then this might not be the best choice.
