Not fancy, but neat, clean, friendly helpful staff. Nice surroundings. Good food at the small restaurant. Quaint and withing walking distance to central area. Wonderful setting by the side of a mountain. Rustic.Rooms are small but very adequate.

This beautiful inn is surrounded by lovely gardens with visiting hummingbirds. My upstairs room had a view of the garden, ruins, and mountains. The bed was super comfy with a down comforter, and there was good water pressure and plenty of hot water in the bathroom. Staff was friendly and helpful....gave me a map and instructions for some nice nearby hikes. Breakfast included fresh juice, yogurt, granola, fruit, and eggs to order. Just a 5 min walk from the main plaza, but very peaceful. I fell in love with this town and this lovely lodge. Highly recommended!

Glad you loved Apu Lodge. The setting is beautiful, as you say, and our staff, mostly English speakers, love to help out. They are happy to book drivers, answer emails, help with luggage and make your stay as comfortable as we can. Our gardens are spacious and perfect for bird-watching- a lovely place to relax for a day after a trip to Machu Picchu.

Our breakfast ingredients are fresh and as local as possible. The yogurt is organic Greek-style creamy yogurt made by a farmer with one very happy cow just outside town who also supplies us with milk. Granola is made in the Sacred Valley, juice is freshly squeezed and we use organic greens from the garden for our omelettes cooked to order. Dinner is also served every night and we can recommend other nearby restaurants.

We are glad you had time to hike. Many of our guests wish they had stayed longer to explore not only the historic town and archaeology but also the surrounding communities and countryside.

As you say, the five-minute walk from the plaza along Inca pedestrian streets makes for a very peaceful location. Guests can call from the plaza for help with luggage. Our drivers can do this for you easily.

Thank you for your stay and lovely review.

One of the best places I've stayed at during my trip in Peru. This is a real haven of peace, tucked aside at the end of a charming cobblestone street, yet only 5min walk from the main plaza. The views are amazing, the breakfast was good, the hot shower was great and the staff super friendly. I'd love to go back and stay longer!

Not much to say as I agree with all the positive reviews. Quiet, mulilingingual helpful staff, good location, 20-25 minute walk to train station, clean, safe, free purified water, good breakfast etc. I have no complaints. Cuzco is probably the best jumping off point to arrange tours but you should definitely plan a few days in this small town. Olly is also a great base for visiting all the ruins in the Sacred Valley as well as Machu Picchu.

Thank you for your positive review! Our staff are happy to organize trips in advance or with a day or two's notice, including guides if you wish. Machu Picchu can be visited as a day trip and other great trips include hikes to Pumamarka, the Inca Quarries, the Waterfall at Soqma, and markets at Urubamba and Pisac, plus the weaving communities of Huilloc and Patakancha. Glad you used our filtered water, every plastic bottle saved makes a difference!

Wonderful Lodge run by a Scottish Ex-Pat, beautifully set at top of ancient Ollantaytambo just 3 blocks up from the Central Square. Quiet, clean rooms, well set up for travelers with a clothes line, laundry service, endless supply of filtered water, quiet location and lovely outdoor space with hammocks and flowers. The staff were really helpful and kind.
