We stayed at Gran Pacifica for a week and what a week! This hotel is fairly remote, a good 45 minutes from the nearest supermarket but once you are here and there is nothing to do but relax, you will be in heaven. The pool area is nice and right on the beach. You can't swim right in front of the hotel but you can walk a bit to a good spot for swimming. The beach itself is absolutely amazing - you can walk for miles and there are few other houses on the beach, and no large hotels at all. There is amazing driftwood, rocks, and the seashell collecting is first rate. The hotel restaurant is very good - and for a fairly remote property, has a wide variety of fish, meat, poultry on the menu. We stayed in condo #111, which is right next to the pool and restaurant and at first we thought would be too loud but it wasn't. We loved being able to open the doors and be right at the pool. We had a two bedroom condo, which was huge - large living area, kitchen, and two beds and baths plus washer dryer, internet, and AC/ceiling fans. My advice would be to spend a couple of days in Granada doing the tourist things (volcano tour, boat ride on the lake, colorful markets) and then head to Gran Pacific to unwind and just enjoy. Four wheel drive would be recommended as the road leading into the property is dusty and a bit bumpy. Not required, but helpful. Sunsets, absolutely stunning.

Room Tip: Loved # 111

There is much to like about the GP, there are empty beaches for as far as you want to walk, a nice pool, and great staff. If you are considering staying, a couple of tips:
- make sure you get a remodeled room, the first one we were shown was very dated. The second one, which we took, had an upgraded shower which was nice (walk in vs tub in first) but still had tube TV's (in spite of listing promising flat screen) which took up a big piece of the living room.
- if you get a single room there will be no balcony (second or third floor) or a small slab with no shade (first floor). The single rooms have the bed room on the parking lot side and are long and thin (standard one bedroom apartment layout). Also the single rooms are adjoining the deluxe two bedrooms, and the noise travels through the passage door (which is right beside the TV in both rooms).
- the two bedroom and deluxe two bedroom units looked much nicer - more light and good (standard) or huge (deluxe) balconies.
- there is a second beach which requires a shuttle to get to. They don't tell you there's a fee for the shuttle. The beach is miles long. Other than a few tables there's nothing there except a security guard. A great place if you want a private day with no distractions.
- The promised second restaurant/ snack bar was not open during our stay, and didn't look like it had been for awhile.
- The food and wait staff are great. Budget about $100 + for food for 2 per day.
- The shuttle to the airport is $100 each way for 2. It's about 90 minutes, the last 6 km are through an area that needs a four wheel or a very skilled two wheel driver. I would have buried the car in the deep mud 3 km from the resort, not fun.
- Your last chance to buy beer or snacks on the way in is a small store just before the pavement ends.
- Some guests went fishing (you need to swim out about 1/4 mile to catch the boat) and caught tuna and snapper, which the chef prepared.
- Golf course is nine holes with two tee placements on 6 of the holes.
Net, if you want a small isolated resort I'd rate this a four star place (it's not five star by any stretch) that's a little dated but a good retreat.

Thank you for your review Richard. We appreciate the 4 star rating even though you had a few things that you didn’t think were quite perfect or didn’t understand. For your next stay with us please always feel free to ask at the front desk so you can have accurate information. We apologize that our reception didn’t explain all these things to you upfront but there are just so many things to see and do that they can not explain everything so we want to be clear that we are always eager to answer our guest’s questions.

I’d like to clarify just a few points. With regards to the dated rooms, all the suites have identical furniture except for owners who have used unique even more high end furniture from famous wood working furniture places such as Simplemente Madera here in Nicaragua. So what you may have perceived as dated was likely collector furniture pieces. But we understand everyone has their own taste and I’m glad we were able to move you to a suite that better suited your taste.

With regards to the TVs, all our suites have flatscreen TVs. If yours did not we apologize but it will have been because the TV was being repaired/replaced and a box style TV will have been used during the interim. Most suites have two TVs with one in the bedroom as well. I’m surprised that the TV was a concern because we have had guests actually suggest we remove the TVs entirely! Most guests want to enjoy the spectacular oceanfront views and not be tempted to turn on a TV. For those who do want to watch TV though, we are the only resort that has dozens of US based channels in English and Spanish for our guests to enjoy along with the high speed internet with a personal router in each room.

Also, we have several different styles of one bedroom suites, several of which have the bedroom on the ocean side as well. Most rooms have full kitchens and a washer and dryer and are up to nearly 1,800 square feet! The room you chose may have had the bedroom on the parking lot side but all rooms have living areas facing the ocean and many with the bedrooms on the ocean side as well. Also many of the one bedroom suites have full size decks and we fill those suites first to our early booking guests. Perhaps because you decided to move your reservation to another room you ended up with one that is a little smaller without the large deck.

The snacks and small store on property at reception is always open and you can buy snacks, beer, pop, rum, etc any time right beside the building your room is in. So I’m not sure why you thought you had to stop out by the highway to do so. The “MeatGrinders” lounge was not opened due to some repairs being made due to earlier storms so we apologize for that inconvenience. But SeaSalt restaurant serves up the same snacks and drinks as well as fine dining options and is always open for your enjoyment.

The Asuchillo, second amazing swimming beach, can be accessed by our shuttle if you choose to require it. But most guests take the 20 minute walk along the beach to access it past the tidal blow holes, long stretch of seashells and other beautiful sites along the way. So yes, we do have a very low cost shuttle to the beach if walking is difficult for you but it is an easy and short beautiful walk that we highly recommend.

And finally, yes we have amazing fishing here! The guests that went fishing during your stay chose to be picked up by the reef so they decided to swim out to the boat. That is not required. Normally guests are picked up on shore down the beach a little ways. But these guests were adventurous and chose to swim out to the boat. We’ve taken out 90 year old guests fishing and they caught Rooster fish, Stingray, Tuna, etc. and obviously didn’t swim to the boat. If you wanted to go fishing we wish you had asked about it at the front desk where they would have explained that the boat will pick you up on the shore. Sometimes it’s better to ask than to assume things. We pride ourselves on customer service and would never expect guests to swim off a reef to the fishing boat.

We’re glad despite the misunderstandings that you still enjoyed our very private piece of paradise and hope you decide to visit again sometime!

Myself and 2 girlfriends rented a house at Gran Pacifica for 5 days. It was relaxing and beautiful. The house was a 10 minute walk to the beach, the infinity pool and Sea Salt restaurant. The staff was all very helpful and friendly. I will return to the Gran Pacifica often!
