This hotel was booked as part of a tour that we took in Panama. I wasn’t aware that we would be staying in two hotels until a couple days before the trip - this was the hotel I didn’t know about.
Pros:
The staff was nice and the food was good. The hotel is centrally located. It was a $3 Uber ride to Old Town and a 10 minute walk to the mall, Little Caesar’s, Papa John’s and a grocery store. It was also really close to the casino.
Cons:
The hotel smelled bad on the room levels. Upon exiting the elevator, I was hit with a moldy/mildew smell and it penetrated the mask. The room smelled just as bad. I called my friends who were on another floor and asked if their rooms smelled and it did. I bought some air fresheners for the room and it helped some. When I took a shower on the first night, I believe there was mold/mildew in the stall. It was confusing because, at first, I thought it apart of the shower design, but in visiting my friend’s room I could tell that it was not. I wanted to change hotels to the Hilton down the street but with the curfew and tour activities, it was not feasible.
There’s a 10pm curfew in Panama due to Covid.
Hotel drinks and food are pricey, it’ll be cheaper, Uber included, to find a restaurant nearby.
Note: breakfast is a buffet, but you are required to wear gloves and masks while serving yourself. If you are wary of buffet, it does provide a little comfort but it negated by the fact that you can reuse the gloves (some people are with their gloves on).
Lastly, American Express I’m not widely accepted in Panama. The hotels take it but not the shops/restaurants. Some may take it but you have to let them know you’re using AMEX and they’ll get a different card reader.
