Rooms that have no exterior windows, no hot water, a washroom that is so small that my partner's shoulders would not fit through the door, no air conditioning, weak wifi. Add that the room was about 40 degrees and humid inside, there are warnings everywhere about staff stealing your items from the room, and the bed felt like a sheet of plywood. And the walls are paper thin, interior lights shine into the rooms. The staff were pleasant.

Room Tip: Was with a group. Rooms on the top facing the street were noisy, rooms on the bottom facing inside were hot and had NO air flow.

We spend two lovely days in La Antigua staying in that hotel. It's a lovely place with a lot of charm. The staff is so nice and helpful . They try to help you and give you as much information as you may need. It was really delightful and I highly recommend it.

Very simple and clean. Staff very friendly. No air but fans provided. I would definitely stay there again. Great especially if you are on a budget. Filtered water provided to refill your bottles and hot water for instant coffee (which was very good) also available.
I definitely recommend this hotel and hope to have the opportunity to return.

We come here twice a year, and love it. The staff, Jorge, Gerlinde, and others, including the night staff, are so professional and friendly.

While some of the rooms may be smaller with small bathrooms, it is immaculate and the charm and the terrace is awesome. It is a wonderful for its price range in Antigua.

We love the free water, coffee, and kitchen.

Will we return? Si!

I have stayed in posada la merced numerous times throughout my travels in Guatemala and they are always very accommodating and polite. The courtyards have beautiful gardens and the rooms are kept very clean and maintained. Many of the rooms require walking up stairs, but if stairs are a challange for you, just know to request a lower level room. They provide safe drinking water in large filters in the hallways, a book exchange for travelers of all languages, and access to a computer with Internet if you don't have your own device.
