The expectations were quite high, since we booked a premium suite for a week at Marvie also after having read the reviews on Booking and TripAdvisor (can thousands of people be wrong? Yes, they can!).
he hotel presented itself as a worn-out three star hotel, with rooms that had too many important flaws to deserve the 200 plus Euro per night that we have been spending. Stained carpets, superficial cleaning, used towels left under the sink, a flooded Jacuzzi room when we first set foot on the room (how good was the room cleaned when room service has not noticed it), bathroom doors that opened by themselves, a TV set with 30 German channels out of 40, no heating in the bathroom nor in the room, damaged furniture, and so forth. In short, not very much to like here.
Also the incredibly kind staff that was mentioned in the other reviews did not work in the week we were staying at Marvie, with the exception of the two persons that were both extremely kind as well as professional. Last but not least, the breakfast. Incredibly poor around Christmas with a slow service, and only the arrival of two busses of Austrians influenced the choice and the quality of the food positively
Free parking and car charge were welcome, but did not compensate for the lousy price-quality proposition that Marvie represents. We will not come back, ever. Fortunately, there are so many hotels in Split that are either cheaper or better, but either way more value for money.
