We spent a very enjoyable week on a half-board basis booked through Jet2 Holidays.
Rooms are very comfortable, clean and well serviced every day. The fridge in the room was useful for storing milk to add to our coffee prepared using our own travel kettle. My only disappointment was two single duvets on a 6-foot double bed. The hotel is close to a main road so the rooms on one side are both quieter and sunnier. Although we were on the noisier side of the building, we found the air conditioning diluted the street noise.
One of the best and most innovative breakfast selections that we have ever encountered. The half-board evening meal options were initially surprising (only a choice of two starters; two main courses and a single dessert each day), however we adapted quickly and all the dishes were authentically Croatian and well cooked. Be prepared for limited vegetables and fresh, crusty bread is served with the main course rather than earlier in the meal.
A special mention for the waiting staff who were very friendly and helpful.
Tourist Tips: You can easily walk everywhere from Hotel Ora – into town 15-20 mins; main (Suburban) bus station 30-40 mins; The Mall of Split 30-40 mins. We felt very safe walking through quite streets in non-tourist areas. There are short cuts down to the various beaches. Be careful getting ferries to the Islands – we got the wrong Ferry to the Island of Solta instead of Supetar on the Island of Brac – the ticket collector boarding the ferry should have noticed! Public transport is very cheap - Trojir is 1hr and 10mins by local bus for a cost of only £2 (GBP) each way. Bene beach was disappointing but climbing to the very top of Marjan is rewarding both physically and for the views! If you are staying a number of nights, you can apply for a local Split card offering discounts on entry to museums and attractions. Our favourite beach was Ovcice – populated by locals and much cheaper than the tourist beaches. There are numerous supermarkets of all sizes everywhere.
