The Orthodox Catheral in Sibiu may not be the oldest religious building in the town, but it still quite important due to its size and its beautiful Neo-Byzantine architecture, that makes you think for a moment that you're in front of Hagia Sophia in Istanbul.
The interior is vast and the icons are painted in bright colours, things which makes a walk from the Old Town to worth it just to visit this cathedral.

These words still fall short of describing, the interior of this cathedral, it really hits the wow, factor, we sat down and took it all in, the decorations are truly beautiful.

It is a church for the Orthodox faith, interestingly build by Hungarian architect. It worth to visit the interior too.

You are drawn from afar by the two attractive towers and you wonder what kind of church can it be? You certainly won’t find many, if any, Orthodox cathedrals in Romania in this architectural style. It should come as no surprise that everything is out of this world extravagant, shiny, huge, because it’s a different culture and you should definitely stay open-minded in matters of decorative taste and quantity. The notion that simplicity and clarity lead to good design, seems to be unknown entirely.
It’s built in the style of Byzantine architecture with some Baroque elements; the cathedral is imposing and a rare sight in Orthodox Church styles. Take a moment and admire the beautifully carved wooden doors.
