Stayed here for two nights late October 2012. It is a good hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The room was spacious and complete, with good aircon. It cut out a few times but each time their generator comes online immediately and the aicon comes back online after a few minutes (the protector device always waits a few minutes). However as the room does not cool down right away anyway, that's not really an issue in my experience.

The bathroom I found basic, reminiscent of a cheap Bangkok hotel with a chipped bath tub and average shower, sink in a small corner, but overall acceptable and clean enough.

Breakfast was basic, breakfast room was hot when I went there which was not great as there were not enough fans to cover all the tables.

Staff were helpful with booking bus ticket to Bagan and organising taxi to the bus station. They did not offer money exchange, but directed me to a travel agency three blocks away (which however did give good rates).

There's various restaurants in the nearby area which is handy if you want some variety for dinner.

As others have mentioned, to book this hotel best way is to call them on +95 (0)2-66559, +95 (0)2-31805, they will ask you to call again the day before to reconfirm (to limit risk of no-shows). As alll hotels book out early in the toruist season (October - end of March) make sure to book some time in advance.

Overall recommended.

Staff were incredibly helpful. Our group of 3 had flown directly into Mandalay and booked this hotel in advance (02-66559, 02-31805) but had no other travels within Myanmar yet arranged. The staff helped us book a flight to Bagan, exchange USD (be sure to have clean, crisp bills-- essential!!), and arrange taxis around town. Great central location. Hotel was clean and simple and had wifi (though only in lobby). Highlights of Mandalay were sunset at U Bein bridge, walk up Mandalay Hill talking to many locals along the way, and a dinner at Nepali Food restaurant.

Rooms were charming and immaculate. Hotel service is impeccable. The price includes breakfast. A good location - a short walk from the Palace. I got my room for $15 per night but others paid a little bit more. Restaurants nearby. Would rate this hotel as very good.

The price that was charged 18 month ago was about 18-25 Dollar per room / night. In high season. Today it is 30-40 Dollar in shoulder season. The hotel is not good enough to justify this price. Service could be friendlier, flexibility could be higher. Smoking rooms smell terribly and are given to non-smoking customers as non-smoking rooms - yet a dirty ashtray is on the table.
Cleanliness is acceptable. There is often no hot water left in the evening.

It is still a nice place to stay in Mandalay on small budget. But it is definitely not worth the charged price. If you are flexible regarding your location in Mandalay choose another place.

Room tip: Ask for a quiet aircon.
