This hotel would ne great for couples.
The place is very tasteful.
The breayfast and coffee are very nice. In fact it has the best rooftop view of the city.

My only complaint is that like all hotels in the region, heating is poor.

My husband asked why I booked this hotel as we were en route from the airport and I couldn't remember. I know now!

The location is fantastic. Far enough away from the main square that it's peaceful and quiet; close enough that it takes under 10 minutes to get there.

Our room was gorgeous; a big bed with a modern bathroom and a beautiful balcony overlooking the courtyard.

Breakfast was eggs any way you wanted them, cheeses, meats, pastries...and a coffee bar to die for (instant, filtered, cafe press, espresso machine...then pick your beans, pick your topping). The staff at breakfast were lovely.

But what really impressed me were the staff. I went down with a few questions about the Dinosaur footprints and where the man on reception didn't know the answer, he called a travel agency. Then booked our taxi for that day, plus to the airport the next day. He really went above what I expected and it made our short stay in Sucre just that much better.

I would return in a heartbeat.

We loved the design of this hotel and the Latin American touches to make it indeed feel like a little pueblo. The staff are also a great bunch, very friendly and helpful with tips and information. Similarly the breakfast is a treat, a nice buffet selection, strong coffee and tasty egg dishes cooked to order.

Unfortunately, sometimes it’s the small things that can affect your stay in a hotel and the way certain staff members deal with it, and for us it was the wholly inadequate laundry service at The Samary. In short, we had to have our laundry done twice, the first time because the clothes clearly had not been cleaned, only steamed and then thrown in a bag, unironed; the second time when the laundry was shockingly returned to us still damp (and again hastily thrown in a bag). This was rectified only after a heated discussion with a manageress who was very reluctant to accept any responsibility for this shoddy service. To clarify, it was the hotel which offered to do the laundry a second time, assuring me that it would be done properly and ironed, so I was very shocked by the attitude of the manageress. In all my travels I’ve never experienced a worse laundry service and perhaps The Samary would be better off not offering it if it can’t do it properly.

So all in all this is a nice hotel and again I have to say that the staff we encountered (with the exception of the manageress) went beyond themselves to ensure we had a good stay, but the hassle of trying to sort something as simple as getting a few clothes washed and ironed left a bad taste in the mouth.

There is nothing negative we could say about this hotel. It is beautiful. The room was large, clean and extremely comfortable. The breakfast was amazing, highly recommend getting the omelette. Lots of other options with cakes, biscuits and delicious fruit salad. Great location, short walk to the main plaza and attractions. Friendly and helpful staff. This hotel is up there with one of the best hotels we have stayed in.

We loved this hotel. It has been thoughtfully and exquisitely decorated. The rooms are very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Location is excellent only a few blocks from the main square. The hotel organized a brief show of traditional dances just to welcome us! I was so excited and grateful. The breakfast is awesome and you can try some local food too! I can wait to visit Mi Pueblo Samary again!!

Room tip: From the upper floor there are nice views of the city and the breakfast is served in that area.
