While visiting Belize in February we spent two nights here. The resort itself seems a bit dated. Staff was great, food was very good. Just not my cup of tea. I am more of a beach resort type of person so being in the jungle was a bit off for me. The other guests were having a great time and really enjoyed it. We toured Altun Ha, and recommend this tour. Very interesting. Don't recommend the Medicinal Jungle Walk for others like me who don't want the feeling of being too far from civilization. I must say that if you are looking for a jungle experience this is the place to go. My husband really enjoyed it.

A very different creatively built hotel, located between Belize city (1 hr. 30 mins) and Lamani within the jungle. We stayed in a standard room that was decorated somewhat like the inside of a space ship…..silver pebble dashed walls & ceilings, with all sorts of lamp shade colors. Whacky but cool!

There is not much too actually do as the hotel is remotely located within the jungle, but this is part of the charm. Highlights for our stay were the welcome drink (rum punch….with a BIG punch!), the massage mud bath, the Japanese hot bath pool and the swimming pool. The massage mud bath is not cheap @ $95 per person but for the one off experience it is worth it.

This hotel is family owned and operated having started some 17 years ago. We found the manageress extremely helpful and efficient by taking cares of our various requests.

For one or two nights, this hotel is recommended if you like a remote location, although there are various places to visit close by. Considering we stayed one night, we found our stay expensive; the standard room price is reasonable but between mud bath, transfers, food, drinks, tour to Lamani, all added it up however in general Belize is not a cheap place to travel.

We stayed two nights. The grounds are well kept and in a remote location. While close to Belize City, the property is located on the old Northern Highway and there just isn't much to do in the area. Several guests we spoke with there stated that they were unable to go on tours because there weren't enough guest. I felt bad for them. if you have a car then not an issue to go exploring.

The food was ok-nothing spectacular and way over priced. Our food bill was more than the room rate each night.

Also the AC unit was very old in our room and as a result everything smelled musty and moldy. Ive traveled the world and understand that the tropics departs a certain odor in rooms. The feather mattress topper really smelled terrible as did the pillows. I just never felt clean in the room even after showering.

Im sure in the 90's this was the place to stay, but since the country is more accessible now, the hotel feels dated and out of sorts with other establishments. Its no longer a destination location. There aren't any events other than the spa at the hotel.

Room Tip: All of the rooms we viewed were dark.

Maruba Resort Jungle Spa guarantees that all tours offered by the resort will be available at least once durning the stay at the resort and there are plenty of activities like Maya Ruins, Guided Rainforest Hikes, Jungle River Boat Rides, Cave Tours, Snorkeling, & Spa.

The Belize Rainforest is humid and the canopy of trees shade the accommodations so the rooms are cool and blocks out some natural light. Each guest room has several layers of lighting from bright lights to mood lights to color ambient lights, its the guest choice how they wish to light the room.

Sky Auction is a cheap way to get rooms but this Resort no longer excepts resevations from this booking company due to poor responses from its cliental.

For those discerning travelers that want unabashed elegance in lodging with a decidedly artistic twist Maruba Resort and Jungle Spa is just what the doctor ordered. Each biomorphic lodge looks like that it was designed by genius architect Antoni Gaudi. Moorish broken tile designs in the interiors are dazzling; This guest certainly enjoyed those visual delights.
There are the innovators and there are the imitators in the tourism business. After residing in Belize over 20 years from what I’ve seen the godfather of the innovators is the Maruba Resort in Maskall Village about an hour’s drive from the Phillip Goldson International Airport on fairly primitive roads.
Maruba is kinda like one multi component environmental sculpture.
In some ways Maruba could be considered a Disney World for adults. There is a pervasive aura of elemental earthiness wafting over the grounds; an almost palpable eroticism. In contrast to that primal essence is a chic elegance. For me that odd combination results in a fantasy world for mature audiences.
I’ve stayed at Maruba on 7 occasions and never had anything but an incredible experience there.

During our stay in Belize we stayed at 3 properties to get the feel of the country and chose Maruba as our jungle experience. This property us off the beaten track and very bumpy roads, but not unbearable. The property itself is well maintained and offers some lovely secluded pool areas.

We had the Chapel villa, which had a hot tub in the villa - we didn't use it, it seemed a bit tired. The villa was very dark, but very 'cool'. It was an experience to stay at this property. There had been a lot of thought out into this property and at its peak would have been fantastic, this is not to say it is not good now, just a bit tired.

The food was fine, and menu was varied enough for our 3 night stay. This property was not busy while we were there so saw very few staff, but anything we needed was made available immediately.

Although this was not our type of property, dark and cave like, I am glad we went and experienced it as it is truly a one of a kind property.

Room Tip: Each room seems so different, we had the Chapel room and found it very dark - but cool!
