Excellent place to stay near Punta Arenas. Run by a wonderful family- Pamela, with her husband Luis and brother, Mauricio, who all really looked after us. A mother of one of them also lives there and welcomes you.
Mauricio collects and returns you to the airport.
Luis barbeques the supper- fish or steak. Loads of delicious barbecued meat with sausage too and fish cooked in foil, accompanied by salad.
Breakfast in the morning is also wonderful, with tables with great views over the woods and wild flowers. We were a bit late for breakfast, as we went out in the wonderful sun, to video the wonderful place. We have Danish friends who have also built lovely homes from wood- a great skill. You are lucky and can share in that too.
The food at breakfast was delicious- and plentiful – too much for me. Fruit salad, cereals with yoghurt, whole meal bread toast with homemade blackcurrant jam and a cooked breakfast, served in a little iron skillet – scrambled eggs with ham or cheese. We had orange juice and coffee etc too.
The wooden cabins are wonderful and only 2 miles from the airport, but very quiet. They are in woods and surrounded by flowers- lupins etc. We loved the place and next time we are in the area, we will stay there again- no doubts about that! We have already stayed twice and talking to fellow passengers on our...Excellent place to stay near Punta Arenas. We have already stayed twice and talking to fellow passengers on our Antarctic cruise, there is nowhere else nearby to match it.
For us, our kayaking was cancelled, so we had to change plans at short notice. They helped us arrange a taxi to the Historic Boat Yard and lent us their mobile to call when we needed a taxi back or help. (Our mobiles didn't work in Chile). We then could not get a taxi back, so they kindly collected us (we paid them what we would have done for a taxi) and as they had looked after or luggage, we then went to the airport.
I recommend it as a place to stay if you are en-route to either Antarctica, as most trips meet at the airport, or if travelling to Tierra del Fuego, Patagonia or Torres del Paine.
I cannot recommend it highly enough. I feel the cold. There is no heating in shower room- you need to leave the door to the main room open to heat it up, or it can be a bit chilly, even in the summer, if you are like me and feel the cold. My husband would not have worried about that or mentioned it, as he doesn’t feel the cold at all.
Thank you for a wonderful time on our way to Antarctica. I am so glad I chose you rather than the places recommended by our cruise company. All of the friends we made on our cruise, were not impressed with where they had to stay and meet the company re voyage and it is easy to arrange to miss the meetings before you get on the cruise- they say nothing of note that is not repeated re safety etc.More
