This museum is located at Gulangyu Island which is a 25 minute ferry ride from Xiamen and then a walk from the ferry terminal to the museum as it’s a no vehicle Island.

Piano museum was started by a Chinese living overseas and it has a good collection of antique pianos including a piano owned by French emperor Napoleon. There are 2 buildings filled with pianos and a good visit if you happen to be visiting Gulangyu Island.

We were lucky as the attendant decided to play on one of the pianos for a few minutes.

Don't need to be musician to appreciate the wonderful collection of pianos. There are two locations so don't miss out on the second building. It is amazing the number of old pianos collected. There is also a piano recital at certain times in the museum. What a lovely experience in the midst of that wonderful collection.

Has been looking forward to visit this museum as I read about so many good comments about it.

Was kind of disappointed when I reach here because it was just a museum of all types of piano but there were no further detailed information about them.. no music played.. except only one( which was demonstrated by their staff).

Previously I has been visiting other musical museums, has had some level of expectations..

Perhaps they have stated is a piano museum and not musical museum, so.. they only demonstrate different type/look pianos could be.

For those who love good music more than how pianos look, this is not recommended for you.

You can find some of the most unique and rarest pianos.
I enjoyed the walk in the museum- such an eye opener.

The museum has the most extraordinary piano collection, from the ancient to the contemporary. Some are rare and some are weird. An eye opener for me.
