“Old and Dirty”
Review of Shiquan Street

Shiquan Street
Reviewed 20 December 2012

This is the center of the old city, and there are a lot of shops and restaurants, but it feels run down, and the streets are too crowded with taxis and e-bikes. The street is dirty and there are horrible smells coming from all directions. My friends say it's China, but I've been all over China....this is bad for any country!

This street is FULL of places to shop and bars with ridiculous names. I loved them.
I was there on a rainy day, so it was kind of dead. But I'm sure it picks up on nights when it's warmer and drier. The whole street seemed like it was just itching for a party to start.

Easy to access via the local busses, lots of women's clothing shops, one store has cashmere sweaters reasonaly priced, lots of hair and nail salons, and good restaurants.

You can spend all day in this street if you like strolling, shopping, eating. Yang Yangs, the Little Camel restaurant are favourite eating places. Mr Xu the silk tailor has gorgeous clothes.

there are tons of clothing stores, rock and mineral shops, tibetan religious item stores, and dvd shops on the street, as well as the bookworm an english used book store that has a good bit of local fame with the expats here...
