This was a lovely room with excellent, free wifi. Good beds, a nice bathroom, very good tea making in the room with - as to be expected in a city with such a great tea culture - excellent tea. There was a fridge in the room.
The hotel laundry service was handled by a third party company and was not too expensive, and the regular service was same-day.
There are adequate dumpling and noodle shops nearby for breakfast and the hotel is not too far from the nearest metro station, Chunxi Road. The Chengdu Metro is small but growing and it has English signs and English options on the ticket machines.
The hotel is close to the main shopping area for downtown, with shops ranging from Prada to bargain basements.
The staff spoke very little English but that wasn't a problem. Checking in was as smooth as could be; checking out was a bit of a disaster: we were behind a woman who was taking up a lot of time and the staff member was in no hurry to get to us. After 20 minutes we just handed in our key and walked - we had a train to catch.
Warning: do not rely on mobile broadband for maps etc - in Chengdu it is unreliable. Because we had not saved the relevant Google Map before arriving it took us a long time to find the hotel.More
