I've stayed in this hotel 4 times over the past year for business. I should say, starting with positives, that it's generally a clean and comfortable place which is in a very good location for restaurants, shopping etc. It generally has a pretty good breakfast too.
However, my most recent trip was absolutely ruined by the hotel's attitude to smoking. Despite both the law and the hotel policy (there are NO SMOKING signs everywhere), many guests smoke in public areas. My colleagues and I tried to have a business meeting in the lobby area. However, it was so full of smoke we were unable to stay. We complained to the duty manager who basically ignored our concerns.
Even more surprisingly, on several days I was unable to use the fitness centre because there were other guests smoking in the gym! I'm not sure why they would consider that unacceptable, but (more importantly) the hotel did nothing to stop this antisocial behaviour.
Overall, although I'm aware that there are different attitudes to smoking in different countries, I believe it's totally unacceptable that a hotel in the Holiday Inn group should tolerate such unhygienic behaviour in public spaces.More
